Any copywriter from India?

Hey there, I tried writing as a profession but soon discovered it will be an uphill battle just because English is not my first language and it can take me years to get to level of native speakers (I am from India).

SO I was wondering is any Indian doing copywriting as his profession?

I've been successfully doing copywriting for a UK-based company for over a year and they've liked what I produce most of the time.

Sure it takes a lot of effort to learn how to sound really English but it's not impossible! You carry on and you'll succeed if you're persistent enough. BTW, Google is a fantastic tool to proofread some parts of your text you might not be 100% sure about

    Hi Anoop,

You can find some successful Indian SEO copywriters on freelancing sites and Fiverr. Not being a 'native English speaker' does not mean that you need to suck when writing in English. Aren't there several successful Indian writers who write in English?

    All the best.

Your problem lies in your first sentence and not in your English ability.
Your post title is about copywriting and you post is about writing. These are two entirely different things.
Clearly from this, your copywriting skills are the real problem, your post has no compelling copy just a plea for help. How about trying this re-write this post as a copywriter asking for work.

But make it about copywriting and not about writing.

If your add is compelling and good, there are a lot of people in this forum who could hire you. But no one would hire you from this post.

First of all I am not asking anybody to hire me (Atleast in this post). I have changed my focus from writing to other opportunities.

I was just curious weather anybody from India is successful in copywriting?

P.S. don't be to quick to judge.

kiteg2 must have misinterpreted your post. Anyway, I have Indian friends who are
    "kick butt" copywriters.

Well, your English is not bad. We are on the same boat since English is not my first language obviously, however I am confident that copywriting can be learned as long as you are determined and interested about it.

Yep, if you meant "writers", there are plenty of Indians who are excellent writers. They are mostly booked though so you may find them on freelancing sites but that would be very rare.

Copywriting is a different thing though. I personally haven't seen many Indians into copywriting, at least on the Internet. There are one or two friends who are employed with huge advertising agencies as a ad copywriter/creative though so those aren't uncommon either.

Which Quote? That's a shouting a very loud statement.

Hope it works out for you. The copy comment was not said to be judgmental, It was just pointing something out, and suggesting something that would benefit you.

Personally I don’t think it matters where you are in the world, Copywriters write in a totally different language, once you get wired that way all it takes is someone to proof read and fix typos. If you are good at it and like doing it, stick with it.

Good luck. There would be little greater reward than learning to sell in print. (or screen, for those that want to save the trees. )

PS, I realise you were not applying for a copywriting job here, but what if you actually wrote like you were? Wouldn't your clarity and writing be better for doing it?

Wouldn't your posts become more engaging, and more people would read and participate in them?

    just food for thought?

I am not trying to be a racist here but in my experience there lots of fraudulent Indian copywriters in the Internet. They provide poor service and you end up short-change. However, there are still good Indian copywriters. You just have to be very cautious who to hire. Ask a portfolio.
