Define "proper relationship" with your subscribers

Hello guys,

I'm pretty new to this forum and I have heard of building a list is a must before doing anything, yet, with properly relationship built subscribers - you will make a fortune.

So, what I have done is, setting up follow-ups of 12 to start with, and 5 days apart between everyone of them - providing useful(I think) contents, and maybe helpful tips? (that I have learnt from the net, and fellow warriors' useful threads).

I'm not sure how to really build a 'good relationship' correctly with the subscribers, and so I'm not sure if those follow-ups are enough.

Should I be offering 1-2 clickbank offers that contains affiliate links between those 12 follow-up emails? Maybe 1 offer after 3-4 quality content emails(that's 20days), and then another offer after another 20days?

Can anyone tell me what is a proper relationship between you and your subscribers?

If I'm doing it correctly, how many subscribers will I need to make some decent income?

Thanks

A proper relationship between YOU and your SUBSCRIBER
is one where you BOTH benefit.

So, SUBSCRIBERS benefit by getting good content and offers
relevant to solving their problems and achieving their goals.

And you as the LIST OWNER benefit by generating income
from your own sales or affiliate offers, as well as building
    your credibility, etc.

If only ONE of you benefit, then the list relationship will
    NOT last long-term - unless it's a dysfunctional relationship.

Regarding the ratio of content to offers, that's something
    you'll need to test.

As a rule of thumb, I now tend to provide content and a
related offer in every e-mail so both the subscriber and
I as list owner have the opportunity to benefit.

If you have a strong relationship with your list and you
have a series of relevant offers for them, then you don't
    need a huge list.

I know of a highly skilled marketer who generated over
$578k in a year from a list of under 5000 people. However,
he's an excellent copywriter and marketing strategist with
    a well-designed marketing funnel.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun

Give your subscribers good information - but let your personality shine through. You want them to feel they know you the person - and you want them to trust that when they open emails from you that they are going to see something worth seeing. If a subscriber contacts you, deal with them as you would if they were your neighbor.

There's really not much more to it than that.

So really there isn't something that you "don't do" or "can't do"(?) when building relationship with them as long as the final goal is to benefit both of us.

I mean, I thought it's not suggested to hard-sell with affiliated products in the first few emails - which that tend to scare people away....(?)

I'm just stuck in the middle of "I don't know if I should shorten the periods of my follow-ups" or "stick with it now - and wait for the relationship to build in between (which will take a month or 2)".

It really is a challenge to do this in my opinion since email nowadays are abused with all the ads, and pornography, and social network craps.

I agree with all that was said here. One tip I think you will benefit from is to engage your list by asking them questions. Ask them what they like, hate, and want to see when it comes to your niche.

The information that they give should do they following for you:

      • Build trust
      • Build real relationship
      • Make & keep your list highly responsive
      • Give you ideas on what to promote to them
      • Give you ideas for your own product
      • Send referrals via word of mouth to your list.
These are just a few benefits of engaging your list and getting them active. There are a few marketers out there that simply send offer after offer which slowly kills their lists making them semi responsive.

Not everyone will read your emails but that doesn't mean you shouldn't strive for a 100% open rate. Most will say it's impossible to achieve but I assure you that it is.

It's business - there aren't any solid do this or that's that work for everyone. People might expect different things from you than they expect from someone else. Your niche will draw a whole different crowd than other niches. What I could do with an IM crowd would lose me every one of my rock and gem hunting crowd.

Do something that you want to do or think might work, and if people don't unsubscribe, it's a safe tactic - if people buy after the email, it's a GOOD tactic. If you get a lot of unsubscribers....don't do it again.

If there were all of the "works every time" methods that people like to think there are, building a business wouldn't be much work at all and everyone would be racking up the paypal receipts.

One of my favorite tips is to offer unexpected gifts as well at odd times - no optin required, no hoops to jump thru, etc.etc.etc. Just a simple:

    "Rightclick, download and enjoy!"

    offer.

You have to be in this for the long-term.

Also ask yourself, what can you offer that nobody else is offering that compels your reader to look forward to your emails?

A Free tip of the day, an insightful thought-provoking photo, etc.etc.etc.

Something that causes your readers to take note of you (in a good way as well).

You should always reply to them if they have questions , and always give them quality free stuff constantly to build trust because a happy subscriber will surely buy from you , and not just one service , but maybe more of them.
And also make reports and stuff , write unique content and personalized messages to them.

What Shaun said: great content rules.

My rule of thumb is, to treat my subscribers the way I'd want a list owner to treat me. So I try to send awesome content, occasional freebies, etc. I also promote stuff - I'm here to make money from my list and I'm not shy about it.
