Need Advice: How to get testimonials and feedback for a new product?

I recently launched a product and I'm looking for people who are willing to review it to give me feedback and testimonials.

How should I go about doing this?

How do the IM experts get testimonials from all the big guns?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Give away a few copies to trusted members for free in exchange for a review.

Seriously the best idea. Don't pay people to write fake reviews, not only is it illegal and bad in practice, it's just being a bad businessman. Just give out a few review copies to people and have them write about it. OR do a demo with limited access to your product, and ask people what they think. You could even pay people $5 each to test it out and look at the features, etc but not use it for personal use.. So they comment on how well the product looks, what they think about it from first glance, etc.

Marketers get testimonials from "big guns" by networking with them.

You don't necessarily need big shots giving you testimonials - I'm thinking any kind of good review would work well.

You can try posting on the JV section here, offering review copies. Or you can try PMing individual members. Be careful who give out review copies to, though - a lot of people just take the product and never get back to you with a review.

If you're just starting out in a particular field and looking for some testimonials, it's not impossible. There are 2 kinds of testimonials. Results testimonials and "feel-good" testimonials. Results testimonials are far better than the latter, but when you're just starting out, you might not have those. You can go for feel-good testimonials and it goes something like this: Vince is someone responsible, dependable, and trustworthy.
You can ask people that you know write these testimonials for you. Though it speaks little about your product, it gives you some credibility and to get you started too.
    Hope it helps

Give some copies away and ask for a review. You can't ask for a good review though as the person might not like your product. However you get a bad review and NOT show it on your sales page, only show the good ones, like in the WSO forum section.

Set aside several free copies of your product and send it to reputable people. Make sure to ask them for a honest review. Obviously, you will want to only get good reviews. Hence, leave the decision to post the review to you instead of having them post the review themselves.

A lot of people here can actually help you.

    Hi Vince,

A good review will be hard to come by.

Your typical review will be something like...

"Golly Gee, that was a great read. Thanks. I recommend it."

A good review would be something like...

"Before I met Vince, I was working two dead end jobs, just trying to make ends meet. But then Vince took me under his wing, showed me how to set up a blog that is super SEO friendly, and I'm finally getting the traffic that I knew I was capable of generating. Now I'm able to pay my bills with a little FUN money left over. And I'm having one heck of a great time answering emails from my customers and subscribers. I couldn't have done it with out Vince, that's for DARNED sure."

Help your reviewers find the right words if they're have a difficult time.

Give it out for free to some top bloggers and ask them to review it on thier blogs. Pull your testimonials from that blog. This will also serve as a genuine Testimonial and also get you good quality linking.
