I am missing something here please help...

Okay guys,

Here is my problem. I am not making any money from my clickbank promotions. I have two review sites that I am trying to drive traffic to.

One is the relationship niche and the other is weight loss.

I have written articles and submitted them to EZA. I have submitted articles to scrib and hub pages. PLus, I have submitted the articles to a few other directories.

I have loaded my sites with content to try to get them indexed but that hasn't happened yet.

I have a blog for both niches and a squidoo lens for the relationship niche.

I have pinged and dug and twittered and RSS'd these sites. My traffic is dismal and my conversions are even worse.

So what am I missing? I have approximately 55 articles for the relationship niche on eza and almost double that for the weight loss. My clickbank stats are zero every day.

What else can I do?

I need some inspiration and some instruction on how to make sales. I am not afraid of hard work but I want to make sure that the work I am doing is going to be effective.

If you don't want to make your post public you can always PM me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I went in to this knowing it wasn't going to be easy but good grief....I didn't think it would be impossible.

By the way...... my husband says that I can't make money on the Internet. Please help me prove him wrong. He used to believe but now that he has seen no results he has changed his mind.

Thanks
Lucinda

I have been trying to find keywords that have high searches with low competition. I use mainly SEO book for research.

I have read about people making multiple blogs but what do you do with these blogs? Do you link them all together and then link them to a squidoo site? If so how does that help with traffic?

What is a good amount of traffic to have hitting your site on a daily basis?

There are a lot of factors to consider.

Fist do you see any hops in your click bank account?
If there is little or no hops that means no one is clicking through from your review websites and there is work needed to be done.

What are the click through rate of your articles?
If your click through rate is low that means not much traffic is going to your review pages. Some work needs to be done.

Did you optimize your articles for keywords that gets a lot searches and low competition?
If not some work is needed here.

For example the keywords below would be great for the get ex back niche!

        keywords searches " exact match"

how to get ur ex back 590---- 1,260

how to get ex girlfriend back 880---- 9,790

get ur ex back 480----- 576

How to deal with a break up 2400---- 13,500

how to deal with a breakup 880---- 14,40

These are just a few examples.

Out of these keywords pick the one that you think will bring you the highest amount of targetted traffic, and make sure the competition is reasonable for the keyterm.
          and
Open up an new blog or domain and optimise different blogs or websites for those particular keyterms. meta tags and all that. Obviously input your affiliate links where you see fit.
Get each of them some decent back links Try popular forums, bearing in mind they are fairly long chain keywords so there shouldnt be huge competition.
          Best of luck

If you're using keywords that have high searches and low competition then I suspect the missing piece of the puzzle is a good backlink campaign. Seriously. A lot of newbies just "hope" that their articles and Hubpages and such end up on the first page of Google...and sometimes they do. But why wager everything on the "SEO power" of the article directory or Hubpage? With the right backlink campaign and manageable competition (high search/low competition) you could easily end up with your articles and Hubpages not only on page one of Google, but in the number one spot.

I know this by experience; my article is on page one of Google out of more than 13 MILLION. Imagine what spot it would be with manageable competition? That's because of backlinks.

Thanks to all for the awesome advice.

It looks like I still have a lot of work to do but now I can come up with a plan that will hopefully work.

  • It could be your linking strategy. It can help to use benefit statements to get people to click on your links and visit the merchant.

Also, it could be that you are targeting two very competitive niches. It may help to promote niches with less competition.

I was thinking about the competitiveness issue. That could be part of the problem but what do people do to stay profitable in a competitive niche?

      Lucinda,

It very well could just be me and you, but I have found both of those niches to convert horribly!

Don't get me wrong, I still make money from them, but it is because I was able to get some really good rankings for some keywords, but because of the conversions, I don't often "actively" promote them anymore except for the occasional article or 2.

I know in the past there have been whole threads here about how bad conversions for clickbank products like fatloss4 idiots were. The "relationship" niche has been a little bit better for me, but I once surveyed a small list that I have in the niche about their age....maybe not so surprisingly, most of my subscribers were between 16 and 20. Which in my opinion could be part of the reason for lower than expected conversions.

Okay Here is a link to one of my articles...

How to Get Over a Break Up - 3 Easy Steps to Help You Get Over the Pain

I have been working on my resource box so that my average CTR is 11-15%. Is that good?

Where do I find the hops on my clickbank account. I guess I have never looked for those before.

      Thanks

I did find out where to locate my hops on clickbank.....In the past 30 days I have received 168 hops and only 2 sales.

Is this a good or bad?
        {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[430872].message }}
        • Profile picture of the author Bryan Zimmerman
For 168 hops and you got two sales, thats not a bad ratio. You just need to get more hops. At that rate you got 1 sale every 84 hops. Thats not outstanding numbers but it's still pretty good! If every product you promoted sold at a 1 in 84 hops you could make some good money!

The problem is you only got 168 hops in thirty days. Thats the number you need to improve on. Go and answer a bunch of questions on yahoo answers and leave a link to your review page. You'll get some traffic that way. Go and find some relationship forums and blogs and comment in them leaving links back to your sites and that will bring you traffic and up the PR for your page.

I think part of the problem is your landing page. I clicked through and to be truthful, I wouldn't know which product I was supposed to be buying.

I'm in one of those niches and I find that selling outside of clickbank gives a better income.

From the sample article, my opinion is that it was boring, no reason to read through and that could also be a problem with people not getting to the resource box, which needs to be more compelling to get someone to click through.

For your next project, try a more obscure niche and see if that converts any better. It could just be the competitiveness of the niches you're trying to break into. You need to remember that with the relationship and weight loss niches, thousands of marketers with established websites are already in control of the major keywords and the top rankings in the search engines for both since they're extremely popular. They have hundreds, if not thousands of articles already submitted to the article directory sites. Compare that to your 55 or 110 articles, and the numbers alone completely blow them out of the water.

However, you should consider some of the advice already given to you in this thread and create a better landing page. Write more compelling articles as well, and make sure you're doing EVERYTHING you can to get the word out about your websites. If your articles don't capture your readers' interest from the start, they're not going to be apt to click through to your product. You need to be able to give them an incentive to want to click through. Or they won't.

You should be coming across to your readers as someone who wants to help them, and as an expert in the niches that you're in. A lot of visitors are probably seeing your articles as filler content. Adopting the mindset that you want to help people, and presenting them with the information that they need, will go a long way in ensuring that they come back for more - and ultimately spread your sites around. Don't be in such a hurry to make money at this point. Establishing yourself as a reputable expert in your fields that people can come to for knowledge and information should be one of your first goals.

So your problem is traffic. One of the reasons is weight loss and relationship niches are very hard to rank.

      Suggestion:

Instead of submitting more articles to EZA, try focusing on getting backlinks from different, high quality sources.

Pick one page from your site with a more obscure theme and focus on getting backlinks to this page. This way you're optimizing a sub niche instead of optimizing a "weight loss site" which is almost impossible. Also do some backlinking to other inner pages.

    Lucinda,

    How old are the sites?

In my experience, it's not that hard to get a site indexed.

To see if your sites are indexed, type the domain name into Google and see if your site comes up in the results.

Now if you're talking about getting decent ranking for important keywords, that's a different issue altogether.

An interesting thread, I think the answer lies in the quality of the landing page. The customer needs a clear explanation of what product they're buying (or bought) and how much and how its going to change their life for the better. Typically I think most people have a better success sellling outside clickbank than in clickbank itself. Sample article products need to be enticing and interesting, so offering quality content intially is very important. An author's resouce box should contain lots of quality relevent information, and a short description making it easier for the customer to make a decision. Just my 2 cents worth though! Cheers!

How would you go about a back link campaign? I have created squidoo lenses and submitted to multiple article directories but do you suggest commenting on forums as well? Am I missing something?
