Stumped on how to get series of free downloads to my opted-in readers...Help!

Hi,

I have a popular travel site to which I'm trying to increase my subscriber base (readers have a newsletter optin box, well-placed).

As part of my efforts I'm building a series of free PDF miniguides (2 or 3 pages) that include coupons and special info. I want to have a series of these guides, perhaps monthly.

I'm just stumped on how the best way to get these guides to readers, in exchange for their email. I use MailChimp and can include an autoresponder that will include a link - but if they've already subscribed to the newsletter, or a previous guide, why would they want to give me their email again...?

It's Friday, and my brain is toast...but would appreciate some good list management advice here!

Thanks!

I don't really see a problem here. I have a number of lists for various free courses. In the newsletter people get informed about the courses and can opt-in to receive them. They have to go through the normal sign-up process - nobody seems to mind.

That's a very similar scenario to the one you are describing. Just make sure you spell out the benefits of joining your new list.

I assume your collecting e-mail addresses through the opt-in box? Are you compiling a data base also? (this is your list)

If you are compiling a data base, why wouldn't you be sending these "mini guides coupons" back to your list?

Why would you ask for the e-mail again if you've already have it?

You can collect the e-mail addresses manually and send follow up messages at your leisure (also manually), which will eventually become quite tedious even if you are only getting a small response- or you can use an auto-responder tool such as Aweber to automatically collect the names and send out periodic broadcasts (your mini-guides) based on the parameters you prescribe.

It's Friday, It happens... I use Aweber because it works for me. There are other options available and as I understand it some are offered for free, until your list hits a certain size. A search of "free email marketing software" or "email marketing software" will likely give you several choices, or check out the Aweber option.

You might be able to upload them to your website and then send your subscribers a link to that page. I mean I know that can be done, I just don't know if you already have a list of email addresses from people who signe d up before.
