Works in Google, how about the others?

Hi,

I would like to post a question. The various methods and strategies that I've read in ebooks and forums all give fantastic, proven methods to get a website listed on Google.
Question is, does that work for Yahoo and MSN also?
Or does it just take more time for the spiders at Yahoo and MSN to crawl out?
If so, how do we encourage them to do that and have a visit at our website?

      From my own personal experiences...If you use the same strategies you will be successful in any of the search engines over time.

        Each search engine has it's own formula for grading where your site is.

        If you do things right you will make it on all of them over time. Google can be the easiest or the hardest - depending on how much competition there is and your strategy.

        If you are branding or using something unique (a word perhaps) that no one else is targeting or using your odds increase of ranking first in all three simultaneously. JMO

          Some times Yahoo beats Google for indexing and other times its the other way around.

          You should be monitoring your bot visits to see if they are even coming to your site.

          Then you will know what the possibilities of being indexed will be.

          I used a lot lastest visitors to see the actual bot activity coming to my site before I developed my own tracking software which monitors all the bot activity.

            I always shoot for google placement, but even i fail there in the first 2 months, msn and yahoo tend to pick up my domains and run with them. So it's all good in my book.

              Well let me first say that I am not an expert but I do very good at SEO and from what I have seen yahoo and msn have "favored" sites just like google. It definatly takes a lot longer for yahoo and msn to pick up your sites but they do pick up your backlinks quickly.

          That pretty much sums it up. Just to give an example, I had a niche pet site that I had built and was working it up the SERPS in Google (the long tail was showing roughly 500 looks a day and the competition for the kw was around 500,000).

          Within 2 weeks of getting indexed, I was getting a ton of traffic although I hadn't even broke the first 20 pages in google. The source of traffic?

          MSN. Now I have no idea about their algorithm but I will state for the record that it ain't age of domain or trustrank as what most think when they think of google. Subsequently, the number two and three for this niche weren't even in the top 10 listings.

          Of course, the ranking dropped off over the month (and started to build back up again). Long story short, I have no clue what MSN uses as factors in determining relevance and enjoy the traffic when it comes.
