Ranking a blog and converting it to an e-commerce site?

Hey Warriors,

What are your thoughts on building a blog to rank your various product keywords and then convert the home page into an ecommerce storefront?

Will this have a negative effect on rankings? Has anybody done it successfully?

Do it using a e-commerce setup for wordpress....and you can also continue to use blogs as a main source of traffic as well.

That should work fine. It's essentially an internal linking strategy.

I don't see why it would affect rankings negatively. If I were starting this out, then I would just start with the homepage being a storefront. If you already have the site up, then I would make a post saying, "Hey! We now sell [blah]!" If people already like your content, then this may attract people to buy your things.

  it wont have a negative impact, i am sure. Doing this is like taking over a running business and start earning money. But you should do it properly with e commerce like if you are using wordpress for your site management use woocomerce

Your assumption is that it's easier to rank a blog than an ecommerce site?

I don't know that that's true, or always true. I haven't found ranking my blogs any easier than my store, but my store has lots of content, written by me.
