Can I Sell Blogger Blogs?

I have been wondering this for a while. If I build up a Blogger blog, with the subdomain (ie: myblog.blogspot.com), can I sell it like a regular website where I own the domain?

I don't see any reason why I couldn't, but I wouldn't want to do this and find out it's illegal.

I'm not sure. My guess is that you can't since the blog isn't really yours.

    That's my guess anyway.

This part of their TOS seems to apply to your case, doesn't look good (Facebook is one I know forbids reselling accounts).

    7. No Resale of the Service. Unless expressly authorized in writing by Google, you agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes (a) any portion of the Service, (b) use of the Service, or (c) access to the Service.

That's why I've been hesitant to try, because I don't know if the blog is officially owned by Google (due to the subdomain) or if I own it because I build the blog.

They own and control the site, but you own the rights to the content. You can export the content and put it on another site (even one on free hosting) and sell it that way.

I think a good read through this thread may be helpful.

You do not own the blog, as Webapex just said

Thank you Webapex. Now there's another bit of confusion I have. If I can't exploit for commercial reasons, why can I make money via AdSense from Blogger? That's a completely different realm, but thanks for the answer.

Google owns Blogger. So, Google gets a chunk of the revenue before it's passed to you. They make money off your content. So do you, but it's less.

Since Blogger cease FTP publishing more than a year ago selling blogger blog is not too feasible because every bloggers using Google blogger don't own the blog but right of usage.

Well, selling your blog is still possible if its enticing, the buyer should also understand that he is only entitle to the right of usage. But i don't see any problem with this if the blog generates sufficient cash monthly.

This is bad marketing idea because if some one needs to find the success through this business model, first, he needs to be a cheater. Let me explain. before selling the blog, he must prove to buyer that how much he's earning by the blog. Assume, he earns $5.00 daily, and sell the blog for $100.00, Why doesn't he wait 30 days and earn $150.00?

Well if it makes $5 daily...

30*5 = $150 yes true but usually you sell based on 6 months to a year revenue or its not worth it....

SO really that blog should be sold for about $1000

But on another note... if you can mass put out blogs doing this... then moving them quickly so you can focus on the next would make sense to be selling them for say $300 or so....

      My 2 cents

It's not illegal, but it is against their TOS to sell your blog. The truth is, if you did sell it, and were caught out, then the blog could be taken down and your buyer would be out their money.

... which is (among the many reasons) why nobody's going to shell out money for a site hosted there, which they can neither own or control, and which can just disappear in the night with no remedies available for that eventuality.

But, as mentioned above, it's readily possible to export the site to somewhere else, from which it can be sold without any of those problems.

It never made much sense to me to try and build a business there. I have heard of other people that have done it, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that.

Seems like it also makes a lot of sense to export your content as a backup no matter what.

I'm interested in selling my blogger blog too. I have a blogger blog with custom domain. I don't update that blog anymore. That blog made about $1/day, now only $0.10 per day. It looses its rank because I don't update it. I guess I'll export the content, put it on my hosting and sell it somewhere. Thanks Alexa for the idea.

If your into selling quick sand, then I'm sure shilling blogger blogs is an easy way to do things. That said. Don't waste your time. Build wordpress sites and flip those.

Hell there are some people on this very forum that will build you a site with original content based off a keyword with $1+ CPC and get it ranked for you for just $50 big ones.

Then once you see consistent revenue flip that baby to someone who is too lazy to do it themselves. A site making just $5 a day seems to sell like water in hell--for a heavy premium too.

Market research (or just me after a few beers) can be quite helpful eh?
