Ezine articles question

Hello,

Can you still rank your ezine articles higher both within google and within ezine articles itself by building links to those articles? I'm just wondering what changes took place since ezinearticles got rid of their most viewed section.

Did ezine articles lose its effectiveness?

Thanks.

Yes, Ezine is an authority site and Google really looks for those. As long as you SEO the article properly and build authority backlinks, that article will rank really well. Sometimes even better than your own original post from a blog or something. Ezine is still effective. It is the king or article submission. It's still worth posting to.

I disagree with this. Ezinearticles needs to substantially change their business model to be viable into the future. Theya re trying with their new interface and Diamond Class Authors but at least for the next Internet generation the mass content aggregators are going to struggle. And if you don't believe me then stats don't lie (Ezinearticles.com Site Info)

Basically since the Panda algorithm update of Google In Feb/March 2011, sites like ezinearticles lost rank dramatically across a huge swatch of kw searches which all added up to a dramatic site traffic loss. They have stabilized the declicne in recent times but to get anywhere near what they used to be will be one hell of an effort. If you talk to any content site owner, (including myself), I would be almost 100% positive that they would all say that as a referring domain exinearticles.com in January 2011 compared to post April 2011 would be like night and day. For us with our biggest traffic site, it used to be the no. 1 or 2 non search engine referring domain each month. Now it is luck to be in the Top 20.

Now in the Internet world and SEO world, a generation is maybe 1.5-3 yrs so in future iterations of what is valued highly is sure to change. However I would still be cautious as with traffic from Google for example being now 15-30% from a mobile/tablet device and growing as well as just general mobile internet growth mainly via apps, how we come across information is changing (hence why Google invest most heavily beyond Search), so I am not sure Ezinearticles will ever have the authority of a wikipedia or even an ehow or about.com who they are essentially competing with as mass verticla information sources. So my tip is the value of the site will continue a longer term decline unless it is fundamentally able to change what it actually is.

Google really looks for Ezine. Ezine is an authority site. You SEO the article properly and build authority backlinks that will make your article rank really well in google. I think Ezine is still one of the best article sites.

I respectfully disagree. Google no longer seeks these sites and values them as highly as shown by the significant traffic decline since Panda. You are right there is still no better similar service but while you should ignore ezinearticles.com for now, your focus for SEO should also be prioritized elsewhere and whatever you do, you should always bear in mind Mobile as a method of people seeking content (i.e. people looking for a restaurant review going straight to Yelp app rather than Search) as user behaviour is changing.
