What is the Best/Ideal format for a Video Course?

Hello Everyone,
I have made a number of videos for my niche using camtasia. It was part of my free access that the people signed up for. But I'm getting a GREAT response from the video's they are really helping a lot of people out, people love them. I want to package all the video's into a video course, but not exactly sure how to do it.

Should I just bundle them all together put them in 1 file?

Should I setup a Website that they pay to get access to? (A private blog not index by google?)

Should I just email them 1 video per day to watch?

Please, your input would be great!

Thanks,
Dennis

How about a membership website to create recurring income?

You could also offer a personal coaching system within this too

I'm going through this myself on a couple video courses I'm working on. I'm going to have them in a customer only access area so they can watch them there.

I've been looking at membership scripts for Wordpress that allow one-off payments. I've also looked at non-Wordpress scripts.

Right now I'm going to try it with DLGuard. I already own that fantastic script to protect and manage my product downloads. I can create memberships groups with DLG as a single payment since this is a single multiple video course--I don't plan on adding new stuff to it to justify a recurring fee.

So I'll have one page with a brief description of each video so they can click and watch it from there. For example:

Video 1: Yadda, Yadda, Yadda Video 2: More Yadda, Yadda, Yadda etc.

From that page they click on the video link they want to watch. Each video will be on it's own page.

I would suggest you don't put them all in one file for them to download because that would be a huge file to download! Most paying customers won't like that.

The one video per email is fine if it's a free course but if they're paying I would think they want there videos now. Unless you make it part of the course. Like you have 3 days to complete the 1st video course then the second course will be emailed. But that could lead to more support on your end. "I didn't get my email", etc. type of questions.

I'm also thinking I'll offer the option so they can download the videos so they can play them on their iPod.

Anyway that's where I'm at with this.

The problem I forsee with a membersite with recurring income is you ahve to charge a fee of like $7/$17 per month or whatever..

Once people get the goods, or get bored they will unsub as being a member..i'd rather just get the upfront $47 or whatever then try to keep their attention forever, for this niche atleast.

Depending on the content of the videos you might be able to break them up into monthly chunks and use an incremental/drip content delivery system.

Supplement the main product with reports, checklists, cheat sheets etc and you have a big chunk of regular monthly content.

Once the main product has run it's course, for example if you broke it up into 6 chunks it would be over in 6 months, then you can start up an advanced course and drip that for 6 months. Then a super advanced course. Or ninja secrets. Or technical how to's.

There are a million ways you can structure your membership site content to keep people paying for years on end... hot tip: they all revolve around providing value for your members

    Hi,
Yes I am following you, it seems like the membersite is the best thing. Once they pay $47 or whatever then they will get the course. is there any good free scripts for wordpress? IS dlguard free?

I'm working on some projects like this and I'm leaning toward the one-year membership thing. Like Dennis said, unless you have a really robust system for churning out new content, people will get all the stuff with a monthly fee then unsubscribe.

The system we created for publishers delivers the video content in any number of formats including via a premium individual paid podcast feed delivered via iTunes software from a one click subscription button and a secure membership area where you can also embed players.

The content can be set up to be delivered at once or dripped over time to both the subscribers private premium podcast feed or the secure members area.

If it is a subscription or trial and the subscriber cancells our system shuts off both their podcast feed and the access to the members area.

Because our system can integrate with Aweber and Getresponse we can add them to a paid email list which can send autoresponder messages to correspond with the delivery of each subsequent video episode or new content in the members area. If they cancel the subscription our system also can automatically remove them from the paid subscriber lists at both aweber or getresponse.

Additional content can be broadcast down the subscribers feeds or added to the members area at any time or it can be set up to be deliverd on any stage of their membership.

Our system will also automatically place orders for on demand physical print products to be printed and shipped including dvd, cd, books, combo packs etc so you can have the video dvd shipped when they join your membership.

If all you want to do is deliver video files for a one time fee as downloadable I prefer to do it via the one click iTunes priviate premium feed method because iTunes software acts as a download manager downloading all the files without them having to right click and download each one. You can also set security access on the feed so that it can only be accessed a certain number of times per day or per lifetime. If you really wanted to get crazy about it you can set it to two lifetime access so that after itunes one click subscription the software accesses the feed and downloads the feed is shut.

Additionally we just created a tool that allows us to lock access to hotlinking and url sharing of media files hosted at s3 or other hosting accounts for the purpose of blocking illegal access to streaming video files or downloadable video files that you might want to distribute for access only from within a membership site.

My feeling is that there is no "best way" to deliver video there is only strategy and response to worry about... for example you may podcast the content but you may want people to login to the members area to view resources and access affiliate links to recommendations. You may want to follow up with them via email for the same purpose or you may want to embed the videos in a members are with direct response video player technology like the ones we develop to boost response and desired actions by your clients when they consume the content.

If you were to take a set of videos and integrate it with an automated membership, premium podcast, and on demand print and shipped dvd and manual set you would be giving your clients more ways to consume your content, more chances to interact with and respond to it, and appealing to a wider audience some who may prefer to consume it on the mobile device via the podcast or some via watching on the dvd player or some via the secure members area where they can get more resources and bonuses etc.

Plus by so doing you may increase the percieved value and be able to raise the price, or increase conversion, or decrease refund or increase back end sales etc.

We created our services to provide these features to publishers so that people can have access to all these delivery platforms in an automated way that makes it easy for them to test and come up with the best delivery platform or combination of platforms for their strategy and for their customers.

I recently starting to create a video based course to show how this type of multi format publishing automation works and will be speaking on it at Jeff Mills and Rob Toth's Canada Marketing Summit this March.

Agree with previous posters, if you can break down your video content into seperate files and offer something new and exciting with each new video, you can set up a membership system for sure! The key I think is keep offering and promising highly beneficial tools for them to use on a daily basis. This will ensure the loylaty of your members and generate a higher income for you at the same time! Just my 2 cents!
