Simple piece of technical advice for JV / Affiliate for a Noob!

Hello Folks

I have finished my first product after hanging around here and asking questions - many thanks to all who have answered.

There is an ebook for sale and another free to promote it. Aweber sign up for the free one - email series to try to upsell. It's not IM! It's Music Biz. Blog and MySpace page promoting it go live next week, when I can figure out how to make DLGuard work!

There are a few people with good lists that I want to JV with.

My question is this - what is the easiest way for me to give the JV people the free ebook to give away to their lists and track their sales from that? I can see that I want to give them a link to a new sign-up page, as I don't want anyone to get the free ebook without going on to my list, but how do I then track that subscriber (I presume they have now gone on to an Aweber list) if they later buy the upsell product?

I have no affiliate stuff in place.

Simple and cheap answer please.

So you want your JVs to send people to your email form, then when folks subscribe they can download the free ebook. And should they later decide to upgrade to the paid version you want to track this?

Be more specific if you want an answer. Tell exactly how the system works.

If it's the above you will need to use cookies as there is no other way to track visitors returning after some time. If they will get exposed immediately to the sales page for the paid version then there are ways.

I can say without any prooven record it will be impossible to get people to send their lists to your signup form.

They would be in essence giving away their email list

Yes, I was thinkiung that I would get the JV's to mail their lists with a link for my free ebook, obtained by their list members signing up to my llist, getting the free ebook, and if they come back later then the JV guy get's the commission. Not intending to upsell it at the point of them getting the free ebook.

GraphicsGenie - I take your point - I know it won't be easy, but as it's not IM and as I am not directly competing with the JV people (and I have serious credentials in the industry although not in selling this information) I'm hoping that these JV guys might go for it - you might be right! I'm sure that I have received many emails from IM people where there is free report for signing up to someone else's list though. Isn't that commonplace?
