Payment to people in the Philippians

Hi, we have just taken someone on full time that lives in the Philippians, does any one have experience of transferring the money into their account and the best way to go about it (cost and time)?

Cheers

Paul

Xoom says it allows people outside US to use the service, but only if paying with a credit/debit card but the default country if US from the drop down menu and so will not allow me to proceed :-(

Paul, while Don Luis is right, you can always use paypal as way of paying your employees from the Philippines, Paypal is safe, so you have nothing to worry with security issues.

Or the best way to pay an employee if you are in a long term project and would like to track his/her works, use https://www.odesk.com or any other freelancing sites as they work the payment process completely for you. Risk Free.

            I hope that Helps.

I either pay them with Paypal and pay their withdrawal fees, or use Western Union and same again, pay their fees including their stamp duty.

Hi Paul. Yes, i agree with Sornie. A lot of ways in sending your payment. But if you are in UK Xoom is not yet offered. You can do it by bank to bank transaction. But the best and safest way is Paypal.

Hey Paul, please tell your employees to get a Unionbank EON Visa debit card. It costs only 300 pesos to get one. After that, they can link their Paypal account to their Unionbank debit card. They will be able to withdraw from their Paypal account to their Unionbank savings account for only $1 fee per withdrawal transaction (not to the Unionbank debit card - this costs $5 per withdrawal).

They can also use Smart Money for them to link their paypal account.

So increase their salary in a 3.4% (PayPal fee for non-business accounts) and problem solved. That's what I do with my outsorcing guys.

Those are Filipinos whose paypal accounts are not yet linked/wired to a bank here in the Philippines.

Moneygram is one of the good options as well with respect to money transfer.

I would suggest using Western Union transfer is the most common way to move money into the Phillipines. Banking here is a problem they are a very cash based country. If he has a bank account you could do a wire transfer.

    I would recommend WesternUnion

Paypal. I have a full time employee from the philippians, just make sure to collect the proper paperwork for tax purposes if you pay them over $600 I think. I haven't had good luck with the oDesk workers, but if you go with oDesk, pay by the project, not by the hour.

I am paying less than $600 per month, although not a lot. What tax paperwork would I need if I went over $600?
