Panda update question

Hi Guys

Sorry, I know, probably sick of Panda questions (agh!), but just to clarify something...

....if you had a site which had a ton of unique content, but then you had some pages which were just made of content available on other sites, like articles from Ezine articles...would Google only penalize an individual page, or does it penalize / affect the whole site's ranking???

Thanks
Phil

Actually it effects whole site because there must be interlinking of inner pages and once your Back-link has been banned than it effect your target page so.

The search results are about PAGES.....

Google doesn't care what you think about sites and structures - it just looks at pages.

I don't know why people are so focused on every Google algorithm change.

The only time you need to worry is if you're using other peoples content.

And even then - it's usually only if you're not adding any value and just publishing the same pages that are already somewhere else.

If you have multiple pages that fit within their filters as poor then the easiest way for them to stop you just spewing more of the same into their results is to reduce the importance of your domain.

It's up to you what you do about that.

In general - republishing existing content is much less effective for your visitors than creating useful new content, so it makes sense to be doing that anyway and then you can forget about what Google wants because that is what they want too.

Not sure I agree about google just looking at pages. They seem to be using the general strength of the domain as a factor too.

Take a look at this post. Beating the Panda – Diagnosing and Rescuing a Client’s Traffic | | distilled

It seems to suggest that you can help your site rank in general by getting rid of weak pages. Note this definition of weak pages may or may not include duplicate content.
