How would you monetize a place name?

I'm just wondering because I'd love to do a website about somewhere I love to go on holiday.

I know it would take a while to rank, but i'm just curious if it would be as good at generating passive income, as say, a niche affiliate site.

Without giving away the keyword I want to rank, an example would be:

Keyword - Goa
Domain - AboutGoa.com

    If the word was having to do with a resort on a popular destination, you could maybe throw up some affiliate links to other resorts and travel services.

    Adsense does pretty well in the travel Niche since the ads are always pretty tempting to click on. You could also work something out with hotel websites I know a lot of people do that

    You can set up a community site for the area if there is a town or a few in the vicinity at all. Include a forum, a classified ad section (paid ads?), charge local businesses to advertise -- stick a few local stories on there and offer to post other news for a fee. Etc.

    I would suggest building a travel blog to provide regular information on what is going on in the area. Contact some of the smaller hotels and guest houses and do some marketing for them. You could then add some contact forms and forward inquiries to the relevant establishments .

    Adsense, flights to that place, hotels near that place, sights to see near that place.....there are tons of ways to monetize a place with a travel type of site.
