Just wondering what we can or can not do on this forum... Seems as if admin are quick to ban accounts on here... A friend of mine got banned for a legit thread he started...

I'm just about gun shy myself now as well. I don't want to have my account deleted or anything...

I mean can we post links in our own threads or not... He got banned for posting a link in his own thread in the main internet marketing forum...

Can we get banned as well for this in our blog post's also...

I just need a true answer on the do's and dont's.... Seems like rules state one thing and admin do another.

If I wanted to flat out post an ad were could I do this and be safe... WSO or Classified be ok... I'm scared and about to cry...

Your friend has either misunderstood what "legit" is, or he misrepresented the situation to you.

Getting banned isn't all that easy, unless you're breaking an important rule.

My advice: Read the forum for a while and see what happens. Get the feel of the place before posting. And then post when you have a good question or something solid to contribute.

Avoid being self-promotional, and you'll be fine. In most cases.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I know threads get removed, but being banned is not that common. Being banned for a "legitimate" thread most likely didn't happen the way the person said.

        Well...

Complaining about threads being deleted, or someone being banned is a good start...

It wasn't a former "user name" of yours - was it?

I have not been here for much, but whatever time I've been I've not seen any ban when the reason what not justified. (and wait, I only saw some bans when they were spamming people's PM Boxes, or their avatar etc).

Even in those cases, I've seen senior members try to make the person understand where his/ her fault it.

So, you might just want to re-verify your case!

You might just try reading the forum rules for starters.

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

    Huh?

Are you a long-time lurker who just decided to "join" yesterday?

I mean, you're here one day and your first post is whining about a capricious admin who banned your "friend" for doing absolutely nothing against the rules?

And in the same post you're asking where you could "flat out post an ad were could I do this and be safe?" One day?

Sorry, but this post smells like something I stepped in yesterday on my morning walk.

I'm scared and about to cry...
And I think I'm about to puke ... (cue Roger with the animated gif )

I'm going to be honest with you guys. Because honesty is the best method... It was not a friend of mine that got banned it was ME.

I'm just trying to get some advice of what not to do so it does not happen again...

Here's all you need to know to have a good experience here (generally)...

Post with the other members in mind.

Don't think about what you're getting out of it. Don't post about your products and services. Don't make posts just to get your post count up or to get a little exposure for your sig link.

I know, I know... you probably came here because you heard you can get a lot of exposure here. But this is a great community. And you'll get the most benefit when you become a thoughtful, contributing member of this community.

      Cheers,
      Becky

ETA: There's nothing wrong with having a sig file or running WSOs, etc. But that comes in time. Focus on giving to this community first. And like Paul said, avoid being self-promotional in your posts.
