Publishing on Both Kindle and CreateSpace

7 replies
Hi,
I've got my first book written and edited and currently formatted for CreateSpace only (soon will do Kindle formatting).

The next step is the cover.

Through CreateSpace, I see that they have an easy online cover creator that has a template that I like. However, I'm wondering if I'll then be able to take that same cover and apply it to the Kindle version without paying the "Kindle conversion" charge. Obviously, I want them to have the same cover.

If it's possible, I'll just use their cover creator. But if not, I want to create it on my own.

Anyone have experience with this?

Love,
Shannon

    Hi Shannon;

    It was a while back but I'm certain I created a cover image and was able to apply that to my ebook published for Kindle.

    I would suggest you walk through the process to confirm that..........perhaps someone else has more experience with this, but that was actually the reason I signed on to CS.

    Cheers!

    I have done this in the past with several of my Kindle/Createspace published books. I'd create the cover in Createspace, save a copy of the preview image, cut & resize the cover. When I was ready to publish my book on Kindle I'd use that cover.

    Hi Shannon,

    I was never given any additional charges for the cover. In fact, the gent who converted my book to Kindle was able to use a JPG I had and it looked great.

      Your Kindle cover will look sharp since you need to use a high DPI for your CreateSpace paperback cover. Keep an eye on that to make sure it looks sharp. I've seen Kindle covers that are fuzzy and looked stretched out because they didn't use the correct resolution.

      But aside from that you're ready to rock and roll. Congrats!
