Pixel marketing, has anyone resurrected it?

I think everyone has seen or remembers the Million Dollar Homepage, and the wave of pixel marketing that appeared from that site. But, since that website, I haven't seen much successful derivates, just pages with a few pixel blocks purchased.

I have a few ideas to try to resurrect this money behemoth (no, I'm not sharing them unless they work), but I was wondering if anyone has tried their hand at this.

If so, how did you do? Did you get people to pay for pixels, or is your pixel grid sorely lacking in advertisements?

    Most pages that imitate something else almost never do as well. Look at the 1,000s of fiverr clones that are empty or no one is buying from. The million dollar home page was a great idea! Now everyone has seen it before. Maybe try and tweak it into your own thing or just come up with a completely new idea.

    @sbias: yeah, the main problem I have seen is that most of the pages are exactly like the Million Dollar Homepage. None of them really spell out the benefits of pixel marketing, nor do they try to differentiate themselves at all, which is why (if I do start this project), I am going to work at enhancing how pixel marketing works to better serve websites/businesses.
