Selling advertising space on my website

Wondering if anyone thinks this may be a good idea or not.

If I start purchasing domains like citydentist.com, citylawyer.com, cityplumber.com and so on.

Could I then approach clients in that field and basically say, I have a website that ranks high in google, would you like to advertise your company on my website and charge them a monthly fee?

Have a feeling this should be in offline forum.

Thanks.

Yeah, should be in the offline forum.

This is a very popular and profitable tactic that works very well.

Get on the blower and give some businesses a call and see how you go! This is the only way to know for sure that you can do it.

    Best of luck

That's a good idea. But you need to find out those dentists, lawyers, plumbers though and even if you find them, there's no guarantee they'll be interested. I mean who knows if they don't want to advertise on the net. But this is good idea, it's maybe worth trying.

Yeah I suggest you give a try. They might not know much about it, so give them great detail and explain why they should buy ad space.

I agree with the other warriors, you can do a great deal specially if there is a high competition in that field. It will require a little effort, but once you there, you will make pretty good amount of money

Here is how I do it.

    1. Rank it high on google first.
    2. Google analytics for a month or so.
    3. Screen shot traffic report.
    4. Make out a nice little sales letter basically saying how much traffic this site produces a month and attach the report. Tell them you are sending it out to all there competitors.
    5. Offer them. $199 monthly rental. Or $1,000 + buyout. (depending on what you want to do..)
    6. Repeat

    hope this helps.

this is surely agreat idea, but in offline forum u'l get less chance to meet people who are willing to advertise. Use buyselladds.com to sell advertising space.

9999, (I don't know, will you agree with me or not. Anyway, this is my mind)

At the beginning, advertisers aren't coming to you. You go to them, explain your business with related proofs and invite as advertise on my site.

Point: Your targeted advertisers are already doing their business well without your advertising. Then what happen? "Retreat", the reason for retreat is, still they don't have an idea about benefits possible to getting through web advertising with you.

So, according to my mention, the best thing, for limited time period (1-2 months), advertise their business FREE and let them to understand your value.

Very important: within that period, start building close business relationships (Over the phone) with advertisers (Discuss, is my effort helpful for you and how?). You’ll get tons of new ideas though these discussions.

If the free advertising would’ve been added something valuable for their business, with no doubt, they’ll start paid advertising with you.

You can do multiple clients at once with no problem. Here's what you'll need to do:
        1. scrape your local yellowpages and list down your prospects details
        2. hire somebody to do the cold calling or somebody who can contact your prospects by phone or personalized emails.

You can also try to create a generic listing with their company details on it and put it on your website free for 30 days. Doing this method your prospects will most likely respond to your offer. If they don't then just remove the listing or redirect them to their competitors No biggie...
