Hey, I'm new to this whole aspect of making money online... I read the rules and didn't notice a place to post hello's for new members. If I'm out of line here let me apologize in advance.

I just wanted to say hi, and it's exciting to have stumbled upon this community.

My name is Gabe, I'm 27 and my goal is to set up a form of passive income. (Nothing huge, maybe 200$ a month with some work)

I have no experience with Affiliate marketing, I'm as new as they come. The abundance of information out there is ridiculous, a lot of it's garbage; while threads and topics like the ones I've been reading on this site do exist.

Learning about affiliate marketing, and how to generate income wipes me out pretty quick. I've visited atleast 20 different websites claiming " just give me your email, and you'll know the secrets "... youtube videos that are titled "tutorials" but teach absolutely nothing... except to click on their affiliate link below which redirected me to a website selling more crap... "for only 29$ I will teach you how to make money online"

I think the hardest part is getting started... actually finding real help, and real methods to implement.

What blows my mind! more than anything is that some of these people come off as complete nobody's or lazy idiots making an easy living.

I managed a degree and went through police academy, and still have a hard time figuring out what the real deal is.

I'm trained and able to deliver a baby in the middle of a gun fight, all the while keeping my cool as the placenta bursts all over the place... but I can't figure out how to generate online income.

Go figure.

I hope to learn a lot from all the bright minds here!. Also... smiley face

    Hello and Welcome!

You're in the right place. The best advice I can give is read through the forums, and determine which methods suit you. There are hundreds of techniques, methods, and ways to make money online; affiliate marketing is probably the easiest to get started.

I also recommend article syndication, and there are several threads here on WF that share some great insight to 6 and 7 figure earners who do not rely solely on "G" to earn a great living.

I; myself am in the thick of learning syndication, as it seems the most logical thing I've found in the 7 months I have been here.

    All the Best,

      Hi gluemb,

I can relate to you. You have all this experience in your offline career but are a total newbie to IM.

I had several successful offline businesses and was relatively new to IM, I knew what I wanted to do but just didn't know how to do it.

So once I got all the steps in order, I put it all together for others.

There are lots of ways to make money online. The key is to research a few of them and find what fits your time, talent and treasure (money).

I had already spent more money than I wanted but now I realize that I could've done most of all that for free.

Here are some recommendations that worked for me and within a few days I was building my list and making a little bit of money.

Join the War Room here. Lots of free stuff there but have a plan before you just start downloading everything.

I think doing really good keyword research to find a niche is the most important of all, and then determine what method you want to use and what products to promote.

You can't PM yet until you have 50 posts unless you join the War Room, another good reason to join. It is a one time lifetime fee of around $40 bucks I think.

Good luck and stay in touch.

Welcome to the Warrior Forum Gabe!

Getting focused/started is definitely the hardest part.

If you can focus on just one proven system for at least a few months, you will most likely make money.

And if you have $37 to join the War Room, you have an awful lot of "one proven systems" to choose from there

Hi Gabe! My name is Christina and I’m 50 years old. I live in Greece but I’m Brazilian. (My parents are Greek)

Welcome to the best internet marketing forum!

    Everyone here loves this forum.

Read all posts and you’ll learn A LOT here. Be a good student, and put into practice everything that you’ll learn. Never spend a cent in order to learn how to make money.

Spend money only when you’ll already know what to do in order to make money for sure (be a good student!) and when you’ll find a way to make money online, instead of spending your money online.

First of all, make money without spending anything from your pocket. I found a sure way to make money online without spending anything and I will share it with you, but it takes time and you have to work a lot, and be serious. You need quantity and quality. Only a few lenses will give you $3 per month. You need Many lenses if you want to make at least $300 per month.

I created a Squidoo lens entitled Passive Income and Targeted Website Traffic through Squidoo when I finally learned how to easily create lenses. I had abandoned the idea of creating lenses when I tried to create my first one… but later I discovered how to easily create many lenses in a short period of time and how to get traffic (by doing the right things).

    Here is the link:

    http://www.squidoo.com/passive-income-website-traffic-squidoo-beginners-guide

There are lensmasters making around $500 - $1000 or more per month only by creating Squidoo lenses and selling various products through them, mainly Amazon products. But also eBay, Cafepress, Zazzle, etc. products. You can find products at Clickbank and promote them at your lenses too, but I advise you to promote Rapbank products because they pay you through Paypal when you make sales, while Clickbank pays you with checks that delay too much to arrive, and if you are not American you have to pay high fees to the bank.

I’m making peanuts with Squidoo up to the moment because I have created only 59 lenses and I don’t promote them anywhere. I simply ping them whenever I update them, and I cross-promote them through my lenses. My main intention is not to make money with Squidoo lenses but to send traffic to my websites (where I make money by selling my ebooks). But if you’ll concentrate your attention only on creating many quality lenses and you promote your lenses everywhere online, you will make some money from Squidoo in a few months.

You need more than 6 months in order to start feeling somehow happy because you are paid for creating lenses.

Building a passive income takes time. However, it’s fantastic to have one! It’s like having a monthly salary without doing any work!

You have to update your lenses once per month (at least), but this is not really hard. Your main work is basically done only once, when you create the lens. After that, you make small changes and improvements, but the main work was already done.

It’s really a good idea to create a passive income online (independently of your main business) because when you depend only on selling you have many worries.

I hope to meet you again in another thread!

    Welcome to the forum.

Affiliate marketing is not nearly as difficult as it may first seem. While you're learning the ins and outs, take action by setting up a blog on a topic that people are willing to spend money in. Offer helpful content. If you can point people to some great affiliate products that will solve their problems or make their life easier...you'll have something that will sell fairly well.

Would first of all advise you to aim much higher. Not exciting to hit 200$ per month with some work, so chances are you won't treat it seriously or work hard towards it. Another way of thinking is not to think about the money. Focus on helping people make informed decisions regarding whatever they are looking for (affiliate marketing) and the money will come.

Very cool. I'm sure you'll get it after some trying, failing and learning.

It's very good to have you, and I wish you the best. There is certainly a lot of information out there, but as you already understand, much of it overlaps!

There is no reason why you can't reach your goal, as reasonable as it is.

After a long double shift, it cheered me up to see so many friendly responses. I would like thank all of you for your helpful words and pearls of wisdom. I'm already being schooled with new idea's just off the hello's. Amazing

In my mind affiliate marketing was one of the only methods a newbie could effectively start with. Until just now I've never seen the term 'article syndication'.

It's good to know that I'm not the only new person here, thank you Nature gal for making me feel not alone in my own thread, and really; thank you everyone for making me feel welcomed.

I'm still yet discovering the needed tools to help with search engine optimization, what key words, what niche's, how to go about building a list, what to build a list with, and why.

Affiliate marketing is something I can easily understand, as RevenueGal explained. However I'm still very opened to learning about other prospects, and just learning in general.

Some of the formulas out there sound really smooth and effective, but the mechanics of it all discourage me. As an example I was reading an article in an advice column for beginners like myself, where a certain gentleman would create web polls that people can vote on, after voting, voters would be thanked, redirected, then offered a free gift (ebook, newsletter, etc), this guy would get paid for every person that signed over their email, zipcode or any contact information.

Reading it seemed simple enough, but when I thought myself through the design and process, a lot of questions came to mind. Mainly how is that possible.

Anyway there's much I'm looking forward to learning!

I feel like a grade schooler again

Again thank you all for welcoming me, I apologize if my second post seems a bit botchy; it's been a long day.

      You're Very Welcome!

Absolutely, RevenueGal has given you a great starting point, as you will need a blog or website in place to operate from, and send traffic to your articles, offers, and content.... in the case of most sales funnels.

This compliments your affiliate marketing efforts. It provides the means to generate targeted buyers to your 'offerings' by means of articles (or in layman's terms) you're content.

This is perhaps the most effective means of sustaining long-term traffic and targeted buyers, aside from buying traffic, which can be risky, and expensive.

Like anything else, it requires work. However, unlike those who rely solely on the search engines and vying for that 40% of Google traffic with a #1 position... this is much, much easier IMHO, and offers unlimited potential.

Too many people have relied on "G" alone, and woke one day to find all their hard work magically disappeared or got de-indexed by "G" due to an algorithm update. You'll still want to apply SEO techniques, I just don't believe it should be the only method you rely on.

There are several Warrior's in whom I personally have been following, and while I mean NOT to exclude anyone, these are people who know article syndication:

Alexa Smith, myob (Paul Uhl), Paul Meyers, John McCabe, Anne Pottinger, and I just recently stumbled upon a gentleman named; Sean Mize who has a $7 WSO which opened my eyes to even more possibilities. There's also Charlie Page (Directory of Ezines or DOE) who have a lot to offer on the subject.

The threads below were real game changer's for me, be sure to ignore the argument at the beginning as it gets good as those (namely) above contributed a massive amount of insider secrets to succeed online...for FREE!

      Check it out here:

And the $7 WSO I found very useful is here:

I am 7 months in, and openly admit; I jumped into too many 'formulas' at once. Sure I learned a lot in a short time, but my results were constantly halted, as I thought... I need to learn more first.

      * I have already bought over 200 domains, have 1000's of blueprints, AWeber lists, and several other items purchased. But, had I just wrote articles, promoted products in 1 niche, I guarantee I would've been in money already. Don't make the mistake I did!

Take it slow. Pick one niche. Get a domain, hosting, and a Wordpress site first as RevenueGal stated above. Then, as your knowledge increases, you'll likely want to get an AR (auto responder) service like AWeber or iContact.

Article syndication, and article marketing are for driving traffic, and building revenue "after" you have the basics in place.[/Quote]
