How I went from $40/Day to $100/Day

Hey Guys,

This is my first post. I have been following this forum for quite some time but only now i feel i can share a few "secrets" with you. Well, not really secrets but changes i have made to my page recently that have proven to work for me.

This is for anyone selling information products and have your own sales page. I am selling a medical help guide. I choose not to reveal the site or product as i dont want any of you pros jumping in on my pie. lol

I am only getting about 100-150 uniques a day, some of which is paid traffic. I am paying now because the site is only 3 months old and i'm not ranked that high yet. I am however now converting at just above 4% steadily which is huge for me. I sell my product for 19 bones. I use wordpress with the optimizepress theme and have been tweaking it from day 1.

Here are the 5 things that have made my conversion rate double in the last 2 weeks.

1) Improved my money back guarantee from 30 to 60 days. I also changed the wording from "If you're not totally satisfied with my product...." to "If you're not completely cured by using my product after 60 days..."

2) Added a plug-in that displays the visitors native flag at the bottom of my page. (World flags) - magically have sales now from India, Australia and Africa

3) Added some social proof with a Twitter widget that displays by followers (400). I placed the widget only on my "about the author" page

4) Added a video slideshow with narration pretty much summing up my sales page. It's 3.5 mins long.

5) Added a short code that displays the current date and mentions that the current day is the last chance to grab my product at its discounted rate.

These 5 things have drastically improved conversion for me. Hope these tips help you too.

      I am in the process of getting articles and lenses written up right now. Hopefully that will rank me higher.

      I'm still learning about back linking and how they work and the apparent risks of using automated techniques

      I did make the changes one by one and let them each sit for a day or two. I then began adding each addition change in sequence. Conversions started going up relatively.

      I was freaking out! (I love getting those clickbank sale emails)

      I actually had my biggest day today ($137) which is 3 days after adding the "current date" short code right before my add to cart button.

      I read in some marketing book that people like to buy based on familiarity and comfort. Considering I am from Canada and my domain is a .ca I Figured i would give every reader a sense of commonality and allow them to form some sort of phychological connection.

      I'm convinced American customers would rather buy from American sellers and the same for every other respective Country. So by placing the users' flag at the bottom of my page i think it eases them into thinking we're "neighbors"

  • The International Flags plugin idea is inspired...I would not have thought about that - or that it would be such an easy authority and trust connection...how did you come by that idea?

    I'm wondering if that will work on all niches, or because yours in a medical one...do you have other medical authority signals in the sales page? Or tried it in another niche?

    I've seen flag symbols used in sites, of course...but I have always associated them with language rather than linking the nationality of the viewer to the site...it creates a subliminal connection -

      No! What's great about my sales page is that its not coming from a position of Medical authority. I even state very openly that i am not a doctor! The actual product is derived from surveys and questionnaires from other sufferers.

      The content is developed entirely from people who actually have this certain condition and have learned the "secrets" to deal with it effectively. The book details how real people handle this little known medical problem.

      I did this because everyone else claims their content comes from medical specialists when 99% It's B.S. And customers are catching on.

    I hope you're not selling via a network like Clickbank where that technique is against their TOS.

    So 'today' isn't really the last day to get your product at the discounted price? Scarcity often will help conversions but you shouldn't fake it.

    I'm sure these will help conversions but telling your visitors
    that this is the last day to get the discount and then not
    sticking to it is a fast way to pissing off your customers.

    It's called lying.

    A good way to do this may be to have a script that makes the price
    go up a dollar per day or something so you will be telling the truth.

    You may also want to consult a lawyer on your use of the word "cure". It may not matter that you say you're not a medical doctor; if you use the word "cure", depending on the laws, you could be in a heap of trouble.

    I have found that video on pretty much ALL of my sites improves conversions! There will of course be niches that it does not work that well with but a quick summary as you suggest can really up conversions.

    One of my products still ranks but conversions have plummeted recently. I'm going to try a few of these.

    What I like is that you've not turned round and reduced the price to bump conversions but tried to improve the sales process and presentation of value. Big lesson there.

    That dynamic date is pretty sneaky.

    I have dome similar things with PHP replacements.

    For example, I have an article directory that I re-coded with date PHP replacements so that when I find a viral keyword that is date dependent, each time Google respiders the articles, the ones with replacements are automatically revised.

    I have seen very interesting results with this.

    Here is an example that I know has probably frustrated some people:

    The Next Google PR Update For This Year Will Be In… | TheBitBot Organic SEO Services Article Directory

    Each month it updates itself...

    Fraggler is absolutely spot on with his comments about false scarcity/urgency.

    Sure, it can help with immediate conversions, but it's downright shady and tactics like that are rightly going to cost you dearly in terms of repeat business. Is it worth ruining your reputation over? You might find your refund rate going up, too, as some customers return to your site later only to realise they were duped.

    We all want to raise conversions and our bottom line, but deceit isn't the way to go about it.

    You ask "what can you do as an ethical alternative?", or words to that effect, and I would suggest that if your reputation means a damn to you, don't hold off on the discontinuation of this practice until you find another gimmick to replace it with.

    In fact, don't "replace it" at all. By all means make your sales copy more exciting, but realise that people, by and large, buy info-products off the back of recommendations given by those they trust. Drive targeted traffic and learn to endear yourself to more people and your sales will rise naturally. Gimmicks, lies and outright fraud aren't the answer.

    You've offered some great tips to increase conversion!

    Yes, I've seen many webpages with the coding that indicate that it's the last day to grab the discount. I revisit later and it still says the same thing. It feels shady to me and I insist on NOT buying.

    Offering genuine sales to create urgency is always better, although it may take more time and effort on your part to update your sales page. You could also create special discount pages to offer your list from time to time to increase sales for those who might be on the verge of buying but are big penny pinchers.
