So I pre-registered a .XXX domain with 20,000,000+ EXACT searches each month.

My mind is set where I personally don't feel comfortable with building a porn related website, however I don't find anything wrong with registering a .XXX in hopes to possibly sell it.

I recently privately (haha) pre-registered a .XXX domain that receives more than 20,000,000 EXACT searches per month.

It's an exact match and I believe I am the "first" on the first come first serve list as the domain was immediately taken off market after purchasing.

I pre-registered the domain the day the .XXX domains were released to the public along with a few others just to see the opportunities.

Along with this I also purchased a domain with 5,000,000+ searches and another with 2,000,000+ searches, all exact match.

Now I didn't go too far into competition as I was in a rush and 90% of the top searched xxx related domains were taken within the first few hours.

So here are my questions.

What do you think the value of something like this will be worth in the industry? The keywords used in the domains aren't outrageously provocative and aren't specific to an individual niche, instead they are related to the entire industry as a whole and tend to be some of the most searched keywords.

I'm not trying to make millions off of this or anything, but what are your thoughts on possibly selling the domain in the future?

Should I sell it right around the time of the release of the domains or should I wait a few weeks, months, or even years?

One last note.

I own over 130 niche websites and I'm very comfortable in the niche marketing world. I just wonder about exact match domains and their values.

Thanks!

I understand it's all going to depend on the markets and how the search engines rank .XXX domains and whatnot. But even people typing in the domain are likely to find it because it's only 8 letters (might sound like a lot, but it's not lol).

Let's just say the .com version of the domain ranks in the top 2,000 of all domains And it's not a brand or anything, so I'm safe there.

My guess will be that search engines will not rank there very high. I bet we see actual adult search engines come out next after some of the big ones actually ban these domains.

Oh yea. I wouldn't expect them to show up in the regular search engines.

I was referring to people who click on "Show Explicit" on Google/Bing.

Will Google Index .XXX domains and what does it mean for SEO?

Also pertaining to the specific words used in the domain, I doubt anyone typing the keyword into the search engines would be looking for something unrelated to porn.

Currently you can type in an explicit phrase and return explicit websites, so why would that change?

For a marketer, that would be an even better scenario. You'd have the porn seekers with money using the porn search engines, so you'd have your target market all wrapped up. You can bet porn search engines won't ignore XXX domains, so the traffic would, uh, come, so to speak.

It could be a real gold mine for those in the adult niches, but I'm not one of them.

He wouldn't need them to rank high if it was getting exact searches per month.

A domain with that many searches should be worth ALOT!

Well done, I hope to sell domains in the future!

Can you PM the name to me?

EDIT: Holy crap... I think I found it. My heart just skipped a beat? My term gets about 20% of the traffic (they have over 120,000,000 searches per month), but even at that... 20% is still $100,000. Now I know I probably won't get that much for the domain, but just the theory behind it is enough.

If anyone has any info to share about domains that have previously sold (.xxx wise) please do. I would love to see other websites to compare.

Hire someone else to build it. Go offer someone a percentage to do the work while you collect the money because you're the one who owns the domain.

You know. I didn't even think much about that concept. It wouldn't be hard to outsource the work and make a revenue or even allow someone just to take over whilst I'm the owner/investor.

Hod did you get on with this Justin? Did you sell or do anything with your XXX domains? Some of the registrars are offering lower prices on XXX domains at the moment and I was thinking about flipping some myself. However I tried searching some explicit terms and didn't find google showing any xxx domains in the results. This puts me off as if EMD's aren't coming up in the google results it devalues the point of having the EMD quite a bit.
