INTERNET MARKETING

Hi,

I have tried cloaking my affiliate link with "bitly". However, when i click on the cloaked link, i am taken to a page that looks as below: :confused:

Stop - there might be a problem with the requested link

why does this happen, and how can i correct it?

If you can suggest any alternatives to bitly, i would be obliged.

Please advise.

Not sure what your problem with bitly is. It might be keyword filtered or something.

Hi Dola,

Bitly is a problem when trying to cloak affiliate links. I use Tiny URL for some of mine now but there are others out there.

Maybe someone else can jump in with suggestions?

Yeah, I've noticed that bit.ly gives me problems with affiliate links...very weird.

Personally I manually cloak my links with php. There are also a ton of Wordpress plugins you can use as well. Just search google for "link cloaking Wordpress plugin" because wordpress doesn't allow these in their plugin directory.

Yes, I beleive bit.ly is no more accepting affiliate links so try some alternative's like tinyurl,google's url shortner or you can also try adfly

I just published this free page through Yola, and my message count not being 20 yet, i probably cannot post the link here. Which URL shortening service have you been using?

This is just a fine example of WHY you should not be relying
on a 3rd party service. If I were you, I would install YOURLS
on a domain that you own so you are in full control of it.

Better try goo.gl it is much better then bit.ly

Either use goo.gl or even domain redirects. They both work so much better.

And some clickbank affiliate links don't always work on goo.gl, so look out for that.
