This is why I hate Online Marketers

Over last few months I have bought several products. But unfortunately none of them was complete in what it claimed. Almost all of them were missing some portions of information.

And the bad thing is that those portions of information were intentionally left.

Actually the product creator tries to be smart to catch me for another sale by keeping his one product incomplete. And offering the solution as another product.

Well, fellow warriors may argue that come on man this is marketing bla bla bla

But my question is, "How are you going to build credibility and trust with your buyer and list"

You are cheating your buyer in trying to be smart. Most of the times he will never buy your product again because you lied him first time.

I am asking fellow warriors what would you prefer

1. A buyer that buys your product and vanishes (because you cheated him with false statements and he is angry on you)

2. A buyer that buys your product and keeps on buying from you

And I know that this happens mostly with products that offer 100% commissions to affiliates. Because such products are not created to facilitate buyer but to build lists.

I personally would never promote a 100% commission product as that will really hurt my relation with my list. In other words I'll be recommending my list something that they will not like in the end and as a result they will unsubscribe

This post is turning out to be an article ..... Coming to main point

Trust, Trust and only Trust will get you more sales. Stop thinking about 1 sale or one OTO, think in long term and start building trust.

Thanks

Next time, before you buy a product, come to the Warrior Forum, use the nice little handy search function, and type in the name of the product.

More than likely there will be a thread on WF about it and whether or not you should buy.

If not, start one and see what happens before you buy.

    Hope that helps.

Turn your 'gripe' into an opportunity

Do what other successful marketers do to market their products and services successfully: EMULATE SUCCESS.

But then, address whatever aspects of their products you DON'T like, when it comes to developing your own: IMPROVE UPON WHAT WORKS.

Ultimately, you make your own path and can't blame others.

    I hope this helps,

Thats what I am doing, I am writing my own report now Its like combination of several products about one topic.

Hopefully this will be something that will help newbies as I am trying to put every bit into it.

By the way I am not going to sell it I'll distribute it free here on WF

    It's simple.

Even though you may think everyone is out there to lie, cheat or steal
from you, but that isn't reality...

There are people who care about their name...

There are people who care about the long-term part of their business.

There are PLENTY of people out there that deliver quality products without
having to lie to you about the statistics.

A few come off the top of my head when I think of...

QUALITY... TRUSTWORTHY... WILLING TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE...
CARE ABOUT THEIR REPUTATION... ARE THINKING LONG-TERM...

    Sam England
    Bill Platts
    Aiden Chong
    Chris Munch
    Stephen Gilbert
    Colin Theriot
    Adam Roy

And that is just 0.1% of the "list"...

The only person you can blame is yourself...

You're buying into those products that claim...

"YOU CAN MAKE $10,000 IN 5 DAYS"

"LEARN HOW TO MAKE THOUSANDS WITH NO EFFORT!"

Change your buying habits... Your expectations...

Maybe you'll actually find a product that will ACTUALLY make you MONEY
without having some hyped up headline...

This is ridiculous. Change your expectations?????

Next time you go to the store and buy a can of soup, then return home and open it to find its a can of sliced pineapples - change your buying habits ...your expectations.

Next time you go to a car dealership and buy a $600,000 lamborghini, only to find out you've just purchased a volkswagon kit car, change your buying habits ...your expectations.

Next time you buy a house, only to find theres no bathroom or main bedroom, change your buying habits ...your expectations.

Im getting SICK AND TIRED of sneaky marketers purposely misleading people into buying their products, and making false claims, only to leave out crucial segments of information in order to make an upsell.

Its no wonder Clickbank and the FTC is coming down on us.

This type of crap gives ALL of us a bad reputation.

I believe you misinterpreted what he was meaning to say...

I have talked to him in person, and he is one of the good guys.

He is not talking about changing one's expectations about whether the sales copy should deliver on the promises it makes.

He was likely talking instead about how people want to believe the big bold claims of people, who like in the page he sent me last night that said, "Make $20,000 in one hour".

I believe his intended statement had more to do with those people who believe the most absurd claims made by sellers, in absence of common sense.

If someone wants to believe that they can make $20,000 in one hour, then maybe that person does need to change his expectations.

Let me rephrase for him in his absence: "If you believe that you can make $20,000 in one hour, by just buying a $27 product, then please change your expectations."

Believing that you can make loads of money, without actually giving anyone any real value to someone, is the mindset that is doing so much harm to our industry and society. Change that mindset.

        Johnny...

        You answered it right there...

Sneaky marketers marketing to the blind...

        Sneaky as in dishonest? Yep.

        This "game" wreaks of dishonesty!

...BUT IT KEEPS GETTING BIGGER AND BIGGER!

        Do you know why?

Because people buy into that crap...

"Make $215 In One Click" and in fine-print: Just buy this for $7...

What I mean by CHANGING YOUR EXPECTATIONS is...

Instead of looking for the newest, greatest and easiest method that
claims you can make "HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS" with a few clicks, try to
find a stable and reliable system that can be implemented as a business
        plan.

I mean seriously... Do you truly think that CPA is a stable business plan?

There will always be people that buy into crap... Regardless if they are new
or old to the community of internet marketing.

And about the OTO thing. If I bought a "half-baked" course that required you
to buy the other half of it, I would request an immediate refund.

        Sorry... but that isn't sneaky...

        That is SHEAR STUPIDITY.

You can't fix stupid last I heard. You don't have to be too smart to know why people
        aren't buying your product(s).

        lol

  • And yet you continued to buy them. hmmm

Here is a tip about those Programs/Guides/etc. They make money for the people publishing them and seldom if ever contain any useful information.

Seriously. Go to clickbank right now. Write down the names of the Top 10 marketing programs selling right now.

In 6 months come back and look at your list... compare the two.

They won't be the same. why? Not because Marketing Principals have changed, because the products DO NOT WORK.

    Stop buying.

Spend your money on Software that helps you do things easier. Figure out how to do one thing... then replicate it.

Here is my solution for you are you ready okay here we go

Quit being the buyer and start being the seller meaning you start making the sales

Quit buying those products to give yourself a reason to not work on something, if you bought a product that was missing some information go do a search to try and find the information.

Look for reviews about the product no just here on WF but you can use Google also

Totally agree with this, you have to view yourself as a marketer and start selling your own products, instead of buying product after product.

That being said, you still need to invest in training & tools that will make your business grow and automate some of the everyday tasks.

That way when you buy you look for specific training, for example if you need help with list building then you look for a product on list building, but don't expect it to cover every other aspect of marketing like mobile marketing for example.

Its unlikely that you will find a $27 product that will teach you everything you need to learn to make money online.

Marketers are exactly that, their job is to sell, so if you need something to cover all the areas you probably need to find a coaching/mentorship program that will do some step-by-step/ hand-holding.

      Hope this helps

Are you really assuming that people who offer 100% commissions are selling shady products?

And really, how many courses do you need to buy to learn how to make money when it's a process that hasn't changed for thousands and thousands of years.

It's called make more than you spend.

I've bought multiple products over the last 6 years and have been pretty satisfied with all of them except viral inviter (due to lack of support).

    1. Are you buying really "cheap products" like $5-$10 dollar products that promise the world?

    2. Are you expectations too high? Do you ever go into a product thinking it will teach you EXACTLY how to make money without having to tweak anything or withstand a lot of rejection before profiting?

I only ask because even the best manual in the world will need you to tweak it to your purpose for it to work, and dig a little deeper for maximum results, and if you're buying really cheap products well you can imagine that the creator probably didn't put his/her heart and soul into them.

Some people will, but human nature tells me that the majority of WSO creators will not put their heart and soul into a cheap WSO, which is why I rarely if ever buy "cheap" products that aren't the "main event". WSO's are almost never the main event, they are usually just a a piece of the pie.

Personally I have bought my share of products that didn't live up to expectations. I've learned to only buy from internet marketers that I trust. I build trust by subscribing to their list and reading their emails/following their blogs. It doesn't take long to figure out who is promoting product after product just to make a buck and who is serving up useful information. When someone I trust recommends a product I definitely consider buying if it fills a need I have.

I dont think thats correct that they bait you like that. From experience I know what happens... You offer your complete product, then your customers alert you to things they could have understood better so you create another one to help them...Everytime you put out a product, your customers have questions and development and they advance and they want to know more. If you write an encyclopedia the first shot, no one will succeed because its too much to assimilate.

If you truly want your customers to succeed, you focus on the next move to help them, you walk them one mile at a time, or else they wont even go the first one.

If I told a newby everything I know about telemarketing their head would be spinning, they would get overwhelmed with "What ifs", and they would never make it past the first step.

You are right but only to some extent.

For example a person who has created a product really to provide something helpful will accept feedback, but the bad guys will never even reply your mails

Moreover if a product is 100% commission product, creator will not be happy with replying your email all the time

I am asking on which product you will give best support
      1. a product that you sold at 100% commissions
      2. or a product that you sold at 50% commissions
      3. or a product that you sold directly to your list without any affiliates involved

Most likely you will accept feedback and provide support only on a product which brought you most amount of money

You are thinking like a consumer who has made
        some bad purchases.

You seem to have developed a victim mindset.

I can't speak for other product creators. But I try
to offer the same support to all my customers and
clients, irrespective of the value or type of product
        they have purchased.

IMO the vast majority of product creators are much
more interested in developing a long term relationship
with customers than making a fast buck.

A key indicator of a successful business is the lifetime
value of a customer. One sale does not a lifetime make.

And the ones who aren't are the ones who you should avoid buying from. OP, perhaps you should stick to buying only from people who have an established track record you can judge them by. This would give you a chance to see whether they meet the above criteria, the possibility of fake reviews notwithstanding. A few fake reviews will only sway you if there is very little history to look at, in which case you won't be buying from them to begin with.

I have very rarely bought a product that intentionally left out something so significant that its lack prevented the products plan from working. If I had, I would have asked for a refund.

As a product creator myself I can tell you that I work very hard to cover everything that a person needs, but it is impossible to always cover every base. For example. my latest product took me months of writing and revising and was read by several beta readers before I was confident that it covered everything that my buyers need to know.

And yet, even after all that, I still have received the odd email from people who are confused by something I have written, or who are starting from an even lower point in terms of experience than I have anticipated (and I really did try to start from scratch!)

All you can do is to answer those requests for help quickly and add the 'missing' information to later versions of your product (or add an FAQ somewhere).

      Martin

Martin has made a good point here.

I have created several products, and it may be helpful to you to learn what I have learned.

The last time I made an all-encompassing product that I felt would answer all questions people had, I spent 3 months creating that product.

It contained 11.5 hours of video and over 200 pages of PDF documentation, and we opened pricing on it at $17.

Sales were not what I had expected.

The number one complaint by people who did not purchase?

      #1 Too much information!!

We extracted pieces from the package to make smaller products, with the potential of buying the larger product as an upsell. We raised the price of the bigger product to $97 and sold the smaller pieces for $17.

Our sales for the smaller products was substantially more than the sales for the bigger product, even at the same price!!

The sales for the smaller products were exceptionally higher, and the sales on the larger product continued on, even at the higher price, because many people who liked the smaller product wanted the bigger product too.

The people who wanted to buy the smaller products did, and then they were given an option to get "more detailed information" on the topic. Some did, many did not.

The number one reason more people did not take the upsell?

      #1 Too much information!!

This experience has forever taught me to change how I develop products.

Most buyers want the short and sweet version. They do not want to receive too much information.

Like Jason Fladlien is fond of saying. Products should focus on "one problem - one solution." Keep it simple sir!!

These days, my products are more simple, focusing on one problem - one solution, but if you want more information about a subject, here is a product that can answer those more detailed questions.

If you are upset to get the little one first, then shop for the big one, before you shop for the little one.

p.s. The big ones deserve a higher price, because they include that much more information.

One problem - one solution is $7 to $27.

All the answers to answer all of your questions is $67 to $297.

Change how you shop, and you will change your feelings about online marketers.

We simply build products based on the expectations of our customers.

And if you want all of the information in the first package, then you sir are in the minority of consumers in this marketplace.

How many times have we heard the phrase i have information overload. Its a common cause of failure, the inability to process the mountain of information made available in big courses.

Which is why we run our coaching program in bite size weekly chunks, that wont take any longer than 3 or 4 hours a week to implement

To much information will turn people off the doing of it

even when you buy a $600,000 lambo you have to buy feul, tax , insurance. Pay for specialised servicing, pay more for parts etc

If your buying a $25 product and expect it to be all encompassing your expectations are too high

I'm sorry for what did happen to you abumadni. I agree that WF is the best place to search for a product review. You can ask our fellow warriors for a review on a product that you are going to buy.

It is not possible to gain creditability by One time offer in short term. You can get more sales only by getting trust from the buyers. Once you get trust from buyers, the buyer will recommend your name to others and this will boost your sales.

I agree with Damielle: a $27 product is not going to be able to teach you everything.

Fortunately, I've had really, really great experiences with the few products I've bought and the one or two times that I felt there were knowledge gaps, I just came here or headed over to google or youtube.

    It's worked every time.

Its a good thing that you've managed to spot this trend.

You can save your cash and spend it on better things.

And might I suggest that you even learn from these marketers, flip the quality around and become a hero to your prospects/customers.

These marketers who peddle crap although their product may be horrendous, they've got good marketing.

Do a switcheroo... make an awesome product and use awesome marketing.

    Thanks

I call it 'Shinny Object Syndrome' and it one of the main reasons
why new marketers fail online because they fall for these 'get rich quick'
    products.

    As Jay Abraham says...

"The most profitable thing you'll ever do for your business is to know and exploit the lifetime value of your clients"

These marketers 'Burn' their customers and won't be in
business in a couple of years.

Im all about relationship building, offering my list good, helpful, quality content for free and also offer my list only top quality products and services without the fluff..

One thing you have to remember - Just like in the real world your going to have some scam artist wanna be's and would-be's only looking to take advantage of the newcomers. ( looking for the fast buck )

Good rule of thumb is if it sounds to good to be true it probably is... But just incase you do find a product you want to promte to your list - why not purchase it yourself and examine the quality of the product or service - If for some reason your not satisfied, get a refund and forget about promoting it to your list.

Before I promote any product or service to my list I always purchase the product myself to ensure it's well worth it. ( TEST - TEST -TEST )

But the problem is that there are not many affiliates which do what you are doing

That's testing or reading the product before promoting it

Most marketing methods take a few months to get going, and you've bought and tried several products in the same time.

Nothing personal, I don't know you, but that kind of comment typically means the person isn't doing anything long enough to have a chance at success.

Personally, I've never seen a product that intentionally left out information. They may only teach one aspect of something, but they were advertised that way too.

There are tools that even an internet marketer must have such as training, keyword research tools, some how to do steps, software that automates task, scripts and a few others.

If you need it, buy it and it doesn't meet their promise, return it. You can go one step further by doing a product review.

    abumadni,

I did not read the other posts to your posts before I posted this. I know I am posting late, but...

    YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT.

I will never forget when I purchased a course from Carlton Sheets on real estate investing. I was so excited! But when I got done with it... I knew all the theory, but still did not know what the action steps I was supposed to take in order to do what he was saying.

"Contact people who have houses for sale and make them an offer."

Great. What do I say? How do I find them? What script do I use if they say "not".

Theory... no step-by-step. Of course... that was so that I would buy the NEXT course.

But in retrospect... had he given me ALL the information up front... I would have been overwhelmed.

You are right to be upset... but be willing to consume and then learn more. Sometimes the next product will answer the question(s) you have.

But at the same time... come on! If it sounds too good to be true... it probably is.

If you have ever followed the Peanuts comic strip...

Every fall, Lucy tries to get Charlie Brown to kick the football... but at the last minute she pulls it away and he falls down flat on his back. "Forever learning and never coming to the knowledge..."

Hope you do well and wishing you the best of success.

Another way to look at this is, If you found a way to make 10k a week easy money would you really want to sell the idea to 100s of other people ? I think not. When you buy marketing ideas you realy have to look very closely at what you are actully buying and who you are buying it from. There are both very good ebooks and methods which you can buy and there are total rubbish ebooks and methods you can buy. Dont get sucked into the "make millions in a week" idea either.

Marketing is a biz like any other biz you also have to work on it yourself. Its no good throwing a blog up and then sitting there waiting for money to pour in because that wont happen. Treat your online biz what ever it is like a real biz, work on it and perfect it, read ideas and make them better, research and try different tekniques. There is money to be made if you worrk at it

There is one other thing when it comes to this topic... how can anyone (a marketer in this story) know when will buyer be happy or when will buyer think he got the complete product?

Here is the case... most of those buyers in internet marketing niche expect miracles and wonders from products... like those "push button software" to "make millions without work or in easy way"... even if they get their hands on solid product they will be "unhappy" because there is some work involved... or they didn't understand the whole thing behind the product... also, some of them go quickly through the product (ebooks for example), they don't see everything they should or they don't put some effort in understanding the product, and then start to talking bad about the product... so, I would say there could be problems on the buyer's end, not just on the marketer...

Also, if someone "cheated" you with his product, these days you can always get a refund ... that means you can get your money back and never again buy from that same marketer... in this case, I think the problem is solved and there is no reasons to hate any internet marketers...
