Hi Warriors from India, are you able to make payments through paypal?

Well,

For about 1 year, I cannot use paypal to buy many things; especially Internet Marketing products (many of which I very badly want to buy)

I use BOB Card (Bank of Baroda). I made many calls to BOB card and sent many emails to paypal. Still no use.

So, I would like to know whether any other Indians have this problem of not being able to pay through paypal.

Thanks a lot for your replies in advance.

Regards,

Sreejish

You cant pay through paypal, you need a credit card to pay through paypal or you can pay directly with it.

^ I indeed have a credit card and it is attached to my paypal account. The problem that paypal.com intimate me is that they cannot verify my cvv number.

^ Yes I emailed them and they replied that they cannot verify the cvv number I provide.

When I called my credit card company, they told me that as per the Reserve Bank of India rule, they will not verify the CVV number.

Also, while trying to make payments in some websites (especially in most of the web hosting companies like godaddy, namecheap), the same problem occurs.

My question is whether anyone from India can use paypal to make payments.

      Thanks.

Well, in many sites, I can use my credit card (attached to my paypal account) to make a purchase.

That is using credit card directly.

So my question is whether you are talking about payments through paypal or directly through credit cards.

If you are speaking about payments made through paypal, please tell me the company of your credit card.

I use my ICICI Bank credit card - payments are through Paypal.

I see. So, where do you live? In Canada or India? If you are living in India, couldn't that create legal complications?

      Thanks

If your Paypal account is linked with credit card then you can use paypal for payment. As peoples say yes because of RBI rules you can not use Paypal balance, but if your credit card is linked with paypal, then payment will be debited to credit card directly hence you can use paypal.

Regarding verification, what I suggest if you have credit card, then you need simple to enter the PP code on your verify card link. The PP code if you have the Credit card statement it shall be printed on the day you had added the card.

PS - Paypal do need CVV Number it need PP Code. No one can able to verify the CVV number as its is Confidential for every card owners.

      Hey SreeJish,

I'm on the same boat as you. I've my PayPal account verified using a Citibank credit card - however I'm unable to make any purchases or send money through PayPal whatsoever.

I hope ICICI does the trick.

Also, if you still need to know the verification code, here's the deal:
When you add your credit card in PayPal there's a link below its name that says 'verify card'. When you click on it, PayPal makes a small $1-2 transaction, which will show up on your online credit card statement in 2-3 working days.

It will kinda be in the format : PP2324CODE etc.. so the digits '2324' etc is the code that you need to remember - go back into your account, and in the edit/add credit card section, open up the credit card and there will be an option to input your verification code. Put this number in and you're good to go

      Cheers

I think you are missing the below process:

In BTW I am using HDFC and ICICI credit card and both are working fine. I verified the ICICI card just last month.

Overall it's a pain for us, but no other way..

        Regards,
        Chandan

          Hey Chandan,

I'll be applying for ICICI instant credit card tomorrow - should I ask them to disable the additional 3D secure password for my account or will it still do?
I read somewhere that it's because of the additional 3D secure password thing that PayPal isn't able to process Indian Credit Cards because it hasn't implemented that feature as yet (my citibank credit card doesn't work at all in PayPal - gives me a transaction couldn't be completed error).... sounds kinda false to me because I don't think there might be an option to disable it at all...

But in any case if I link an ICICI credit card to my already existing verified PayPal account - it should ask for a 3D secure IPIN whenever I make a purchase/send money and things should work smoothly like they do elsewhere on the net??
