What is the difference between STRONG and BOLD tag?
Which tag Google prefers more or ?

Interesting question, I've actually never experienced any difference between using the two.

Would love to hear others opinions who have tested this...

    I believe is a replacement for .

used to be used all the time, but I believe is now the more acceptible one (and the one newer web editors will use when using a WYSIWYG editor).

    cheers

Even though this is an obvious SPAM thread, I've been curious about this myself. I always use

The tag is deprecated which means it has been superseded by the tag and should no longer be used. Back in the day the two tags had different meanings. You would use the tag if you just wanted to bold a word but did not want to add emphasis to that word or phrase. You would use the tag if you wanted to add emphasis to a word or phrase.

The easiest way to explain the difference is you would only use the tag for those words or phrases where you would want the reader to emphasize that text with a stronger voice. If you were only bolding a word for style purposes then you would just use the tag. Yes they look the same but they would be read differently by a screen reader.

Nowadays it seems the tags should just be used for any type of bolding.

It is the same with the and tags for italic text. If you just wanted to italicize a word or phrase for style purposes then you would have just used the tag. If you wanted to italicize a word or phrase to add emphasis then you would use the tags. Nowadays the tag has also been deprecated and the common practice is to use the tag only.

Recently, I answered a similar question here

One is semantic code and the other is just style... ("premier" web designers will explain the difference)

Both & give same output. But is outdated and is used these days. It is best practice to use . The google webmaster guideline also recommends over .
