Do I trust MS over Google KWT? I'm starting in a new niche and found very different answers when doing kw research. G tells me a particualr phrase receives 22k monthly searches. When I use MS is tells me that the SEOT is 307 but the PBR is 0%. Another lower phrase that I would not think was so popular is 91 SEOT but PBR is 100%

From the tutural it would sugest that I should base my site on the later.
Any MS users that could comment would be really appreciated.

I don't really understand what PBR is supposed to measure. However, I do have a question, in MS and Google are you basing this off of phrase, broad, or exact matches? If you are using exact matches I think you should be OK with the first phrase.

On the other hand, a phrase that receives that many searches may not be as highly targeted.

I was using Broad match. Should I always switch to exact for the final numbers?

I always use Exact search numbers and I think you will find most do.

I think after you get more experience you will find that you will be better off focusing your research on exact search volumes.

From your examples, I would have to choose the latter too. PBR, I think, makes it sure that you are targeting the right phrase on your link building efforts. Having a PBR of 0 (again, this is what I think) might mean that actual phrase is too far an alteration of the phrase that is getting the most traffic. In my opinion, I'll have to trust the tutorial.

In using Google's keyword tool, I always search in exact. Most of the time, for me, KWT and MS shows the same overview of the keyword.

Anyway, try to find more expert answers. I wish you good luck!

    ALWAYS USE EXACT MATCH

I once made the mistake of choosing a keyword to target based off broad match because I didn't know the difference. I was thinking I'd make a ton of money off this one keyword. Once I figured out how to check exact matches I realized that this keyword wouldn't send much traffic at all.

The only thing broad match is good for is estimating how much traffic you could potentially get if your site becomes an authority site and ranks well for a lot of related and/or longtail keywords.
