Default Question about promoting an offer before it launches

I want to do the method of getting on the first page of Google results for a product name before it launches so that when it launches, people will be searching Google a lot and I'll get a lot of traffic because I have a high ranking.

How far in advance should I try to get my pages indexed by Google? If I got indexed and ranked number one within a week, how long would those rankings last?

The keyword that I want to rank for should be easy to get probably the top spot right now (less than 30 on seologs keyword difficulty), but there will probably be a lot of people competing for it soon.

I am going to use a blogspot blog, zimbio article, squidoo page, hubpages page, and ezine article. I haven't published anything yet. Should I try to publish them as soon as possible, or should I wait until it's closer to the launch? Or should I publish one now and publish like one a week until the launch?

By the way, it's over a month until it launches.

Thanks.

In my estimation you can never start too soon. If you get to top of Google now for a relatively new keyword with little competition then it should be easy to stay there.

However you don't want to be rushed at the last minute only to find that you are about to launch and there is no way to get your pages indexed and into the top position in time.

My two cents...

Thanks!

I'll definitely try to get at least something out as soon as possible.

Out of a blogspot blog, zimbio article, squidoo page, hubpages page, and ezine article, is there one that I should do first?

It would be ideal to have a 1 or 2 week head start.

Why? Because, if you do your campaign right... and are quick on building links and leveraging on the social sites you mentioned, your new domain can actually be on the first page in a matter of days.. but there is a pattern however that after some weeks.. about 3 weeks later... Google seems to dump your domain and sometimes it disappears from the rankings or stays in the index but several pages down the SERPs.

To really cash in on a product launch I suggest getting in within 1-2 weeks before a launch and starting on those social sites; by the time the product lauches and a few days after that, your sites are still on the first page.

I would personally start with:
- squidoo
- hubpages

And, clearblogs and other blogs or social sites that do not create a subdomain for your account in the social site but a subdirectory. Squidoo, HP and clearblogs create subdirectories, and so does xanga. There are a ton of these types of social sites, do some research.

You can then work on blogger, wordpress, etc.

Thanks.

So I should get all my material ready and then publish about 2 weeks before the launch?

I have a domain for redirecting but should I also get another domain and use it for a site that could also get ranked in Google? I was just going to use the blogs and social sites.

I would also suggest that you get your articles written and paste them into your ezine articles account and save but not publish them. Make a promotional video, have it ready and then save it. Go to Squidoo and set up your lens. Once you publish your Squidoo lens you don't want Google to see it and see that it doesn't have any link juice coming in to it. You'll be buried on page 847.

Have all of your other stuff ready to go so when you hit PUBLISH on your lens you can quickly dump all of your feeder sites with content as fast as possible. I wouldn't do any bookmarking until you have all the other things in place because, again--that may make Google stop by fast and you don't want her to see that your cupboards are bare.

Start with the blogspot blog (really should be your own domain.. but hey), then work outwards.

Blogspot --> Squidoo --> Hubpages --> Zimbio --> EzineArticles published on launch day morning or a little earlier.

Utilise these two sites for a little juice and ranking:

Bookmark & Share - The Power of the Button | OnlyWire
Clipmarks - What are you finding on the web?

Be sure to capture names and e-mails on the blogspot. That way, any traffic that comes before launch, can be sold on launch day and you won't have lost them forever..

Blogspot will be your first level promotional platform, where you do the pre-selling etc and capture names..

The others will be secondary level promotional platforms for you to pre-sell and drive traffic

Peace
