After many readings , a lot of errors and a few good advises I learn about the importance of a good a very good keyword research, eventouht I bought Market samurai andl use Adwords tool at the same time .

Ok please let me know if this sound right.

You get an area or Niche were you want to promote or build a site Ok?

Next select your product .

Find a root Keyword

Find a Long tail keyword , 2,3 k searches no more than 10,000 competition in adwords right?

Then find LSI Words

in this process , this small process , Im missing something?

    I dont look at the competition myself, you only have to fight the guys on the first page of google, the rest dont matter.

    I made a few videos about how I pick keywords, just click the make money link in my signature and then look on the left side of the website for "phase-one" and you will find my videos.

    You could use google tool for finding good keywords.

    I normally look for monthly searches of 4000 and above with competition less than 20000...

    To check the competition - search for the keyword with speech quatations (" ") and see how many exact competing pages there are.

    Once all done then I will use SEO Quake plugin on Firefox to see how many backlinks my competitors have on the first page of Google, then decide whether this keyword is profitable or not..

      You are going to want to look at the first page of google for your keyword, specifically the first three stops...this is your real competition. Take a look at the sites, note how many backlinks they have and the types of backlinks. See if the sites are optimized for your particular keyword; is the keyword in the url, and header tags. Check out the sites content, does it look like garbage, could you produce better content.

      These are the types of things I look at when sizing up my competition.
