Website Sale Advice - What's it worth?

Planning to sell my website, a fairly popular site about Blackberry Bold cell phones. Still gets a reasonable volume of traffic every month, has a small list of subscribers and yeah.

Could be useful for some cell phone unlocker, some adsense lover or maybe some affiliate program type.

I'm done with the entire Blackberry platform. But... Here's what I want to know. What would you ask for it?

Created in 2009
126 posts on it.
Gets about 3500+ per month in traffic
Has around 100 links (but all unsolicited high quality non-spammy links)
Currently a PR1.

It was my baby for a long time, so all content is original and actually useful.

What do you think it's worth?

I would recommend that you take a look at sites on http://flippa.com and see if you can find a similar site or two, follow them and see what they go for.

However, 3500 per day traffic isn't really very much these days. Even 3500 uniques isn't very many.

Also, 126 posts in 2 years is less than 5 or 6 a month. Not very much to bring people back regularly.

100 links is a bit on the low side as well.

I hate to bust your bubble, but a PR1 is only 1 step above the basement.

Bottom line is that your buyer will be looking for a bargain, with the intent of buying it, enhancing it with more posts, maybe add some related direct products or clickbank products on sales pages, and then write posts pointing to those sales pages.

You can use fiverr.com and get articles/pages written very inexpensively as well as getting some testimonials written for your website sales page to list on flippa.com...

We flip sites, but, don't be offended, I am just being honest with you, we wouldn't pay any more than about $25 for this site. Currently the value you have is an aged domain with some traffic. This can be exploited by a good flipper, but good flippers never pay much for the sites/domains they flip.

Build the site out, backfil posts, add some product pages, beef it up, then run a listing on flippa, it is only $19 + a percentage to run there. If that is too expensive for you , pop it up on ebay or list it here in the forum..

    Best of luck to you...

It's worth what your end-buyer is willing to pay for it. No. I'm not being a smart ass. Think in terms of a buyer. None of those stats you just mentioned are important to a "casual" or even a more "experienced" player.

They mean a lot to an search engine optimizer, who'd probably love to buy up such a fantastic sounding site (with the exception of low PR, but that can be changed quite easily these days) for pennies on the dollar.

Compare that to a newbie with a big idea but no site, or an experienced marketer who can immediately see where to monetize in places you didn't even think of.

To them that site is worth more money. What kind of revenue are you generating. That is even more important to potential business buyers. Again think in terms of a buyer.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

there are other factors that will also determine the price like the domain name itself, is the site ranked well on google, the niche, how much is d cpc is the niche. I have seen site with your above specification sell below a thousand dollars. Browse through flippa, you will a site that you can compare with yours to give you an estimate.

Is it monetized already? If so, how much are you earning per month? How big is your list? How many keywords are you ranking with? All of the above can factor in the price someone is willing to pay. Oh and I disagree with the person who said he won't pay more than $25 for your site lol. I know for a fact that people will pay more on flippa for a site like yours, way more if it's already generating even just a little revenue. I can already think of a few ways to monetize your site with your particular traffic.

I think one of the biggest, if not the biggest, selling points will be it's current revenue.

How much are you making with it now? How much work do you have to do to keep up the same revenue?

I think those are two key points people will look at before considering purchasing.

You can sell for a decent price if you are not current monetizing, sure, but if it makes a certain amount of money now, it's much easier to come up with a ballpark figure.

As stated, we have to know how much the website is actually making in order to give an estimate.

I have a website that receives over 10,000 pageviews per day, however it's not monetized as I'm building a brand. To me, the website is priceless, but to someone else it wouldn't be worth anything, unless of course they wanted to take over the site for the visitor count alone. But we need to see revenue figures in order to estimate something.

I agree with krestup, the value of the site is hard to determine without seeing the site and doing a little digging round it.

You may have a pot of gold on your hands just waiting to be discovered, looks like you have not monetized it yet, and it maybe that someone will look at it and say I can easily generate an income stream from X or Y. In this case the fact that you are established is a bonus, you have good steady traffic, and have started to build some inbound links.

    However,

It maybe that it is just one more site of many that talks about mobiles, traffic maybe hard to turn into income and as such the site may only be worth a little.

When buying sites I will consider all these factors, not just traffic, page rank and revenue but also if I spend x hours working on it and invest x amount in marketing and promotion then I will turn a profit in x months.

That gives me the value of the site
