  • Hey there. There are quite a lot of options. Depending on your operating system, you could have different features that allow "remote-ing". However, there are OS agnostic options as well.

I like LogMeIn, but I have colleagues who prefer GoToMyPC and pcAnywhere.

If you want to access your own computer remotely, you may be able to log in using the remote desktop tool (depending on your operating system), or you can try Gotomypc. If you want to allow others to share your computer desktop with you remotely, you can try Teamviewer.

I've always used gotomypc.com when I'm travelling. Easy and reliable.

You want to make your computer a server? Is that what you're saying?

Well first things first, I would think you should buy a server, rather than thinking you can use your computer as a server.

    Am I understanding you?

Hi oFaruq I can't vouch for GOTOMYPC or Logmei. But I can for TeamViewer. It's a great program to use. As far as using your PC as a serve (I'm assuming I understand correctly)
I suggest you use FileZilla server. That way you can log into your PC and get any files that you need from another computer anywhere else. It's not difficult to setup either. Hope this helps. Let me know if that's what you're talking about, if you need help with it.

What exactly do you want to access? if it's just documents/photos etc. you don't 'need' to make your pc a server, there are a lot of cloud based options you can use such as dropbox or even google docs+picasa etc. these are a lot easier to setup and maintain (and a lot more secure).
