At 0:22 how in the WORLD does the (real) train travel IN FRONT OF the virtual image!?!?! That makes NO SENSE! Totally amazing!

PS: In thinking about it, I guess I see how that is accomplished. The train is going in front of (+ therefore blocking) the secret source that triggers the virtual image (some kind of qr-like code within the billboard's design). But when I first saw that, I got really befuddled!

Yeah -- I figured that out later. Still, that very fact makes the whole illusion that much more REAL! I mean, the mind figures, the phantom image must NOT be within my viewing device (even though it IS!), the image MUST be "over there" -- because when something comes between the OBJECT being viewed, and my viewing device, the phantom image is "blocked" (VISUALLY, not just technically) by the object that is passing between us!!

So, the technical side of the illusion UPHOLDS the logical side of the illusion, thus BOLSTERING the illusion!!

  I can see how this could spawn a whole new set of "gigs" for Blippar content developers.
  
  And I can also see that they need to marry this to FB, Twitter and or QR codes, etc.
  
  If they use the Internet to develop, expand and deploy it, it could be huge.

At blippar(dog)com they say, "So, how does it work? The Blippar™ platform uses the latest image recognition technology to make the advert itself the trigger for the virtual content. What the content consists of... is totally brand dependent"

It looks like they call the little logo a "blippar cam," and they (blippar) call the process "Augmented Reality."

That's really cool but other than the Marmite one to get a quick recipe I don't think I'd use any of the functions. Wonder if it's hear to stay or a fad that will pass?

After searching for blippar here, and seeing two threads Ive posted some thoughts on the other one...but heres an idea.

As IMers with our ears to the ground, picking up all sorts just by being a member of this forum ( I would never have heard of blippar had it not been for the warrior forum), what about having offline publications use this facility, (for what Im not sure as yet) and be the middle man (ie affiliate) to bring it to them.

Just a thought...
