Amazon Sales Rank - Number of Items sold

Does anyone know if there is a way to see how many items have sold in any given time on Amazon?

Is it possible to calculate this from the sales rank.

For instance, how many of this widget have been sold in the past week on Amazon.

    Amazon sales rank refers to when was the last time the item sold, and helps give a broad view of an item's recent popularity in terms of other items of the same type.

    There is no way to find out how many actual items sold, nor is it a foolproof way to determine future popularity. To make things even more confusing, sales rank numbers can vary by department or type of item.

    For example, a book that has a 150,000 sales rank has been a pretty fast mover but a toy at that rank is probably a slower seller.
