Facebook Custom Fan Pages- Question (newbie)

Hello everyone,
i am a web designer looking into providing facebook page services to local business and companies, my question is do you guys charge only for the design of the page or for hosting too?

I'm a bit confused about this, since you need to host the page do you charge monthly or just once for the page design?

Also what ballpark should i be asking for these services ( if this is personal please pm me)

Thanks and i am loving this site!

Well bare minimum you should charge for hosting because over time (few years) you will start to lose all profit.

So you can do it one of these ways:

    1. Charge design fee + hosting fee monthly
    2. Charge design fee + hosting & maintenance fee monthly (Depending on client different fees such as they want changes made constantly etc).

Minimum I would charge would be $197 for maybe to get the ball rolling but realistically $397+ and if you're going to big businesses really charge higher. It all depends on how big the business is etc.

    Hope I helped!

You should charge for the design and a fee for updates.

If you can offer hosting, all the better and charge for that hosting. If your clients require regular contact with their clients then get on board with a good auto-responder and charge for that.

Then there are SEO services, article writing services and so on. All can be out sourced if necessary.

    Just my thoughts,
    Jeff.

Does anyone here actually sell this service?

Can anyone tell me what a good strategy for selling this service would be?
I was thinking of charging a setup fee of $400 which includes a like gate and the actual page design.

Then i would charge monthly $30 for hosting/maintenance (without updates)
Then any new updates is $150
I was thinking of offering services to run/admin the page (comment, search for fans, etc.) How much would you charge for that?

Can anyone give me any idea or their own business plan model?
I live in a place where they haven't jumped on this and it's a great opportunity for me.
    Thanks for any help!!!!

ALSO HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT OFFERING THE SERVICE?
Should i contact by email, make a video out of it, send them a mockup, walk in, call?

To design a Facebook fan page there is a fixed one time charge. If the page needs to be updated then extra charges need to be paid. Hosting and maintenance fee will be extra.

It's becoming easier to charge for hosting, because facebook now requires that your fanpage be hosted on a secure website. So if your client doesn't have a secure website, then they'll have to host it with you.

I charge a very small monthly rate for a fanpage alone. But I add the fanpage in for free if they decide to use me for their entire website.

Does anyone want to share how much they charge per page and the hosting?

I was thinking of doing a charge of $400-500 for the like gate and fan page (single page).
    Hosting :$40 a month
    Updates:$150

Is this too much? too little?

A custom Fan Page is likely to use an iFrame, which is the element that would be hosted off site, there are various iFrame making and hosting services out here, some free, there are developer accounts for supporting multiple frames, the new SSL requirement made hosting iFrames a bit tougher.

Wait until you gain more credibility and customers before
charging that much. Your client will want references.

Your Update Fee is pretty high.
Some may only want minor changes, Holiday messages, new graphic etc.
If you did a good job on the fanpage, updates would probably be small quick changes.

    My two cents.

Right now for facebook fanpage you have many many applications to make a webpage(as iframe) there so why you going to host somewhere else to get charged.

  • You need to charge for the design, maintenance and hosting. With the new SSL rule, it is easier to charge for hosting, most customers don't have a secured connection. So take advantage of that !

Go to Fiverr.com and look at the deals for this. Most of them will do the design alone for $5. However, you then need to add the additional packages, and very soon you are getting up to decent money. To set this up as a web designer, you first need to see what the competition is doing!

In terms of marketing it - I would start by hitting CraigsList, in the business and service section. Most offline businesses don't know about Fiverr and the like, so you can charge what you want!

You could even not bother doing the designs - outsource the whole thing to other designers on Fiverr and take the profit that way!
