Typical Day For A Successful Internet Marketer

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to the warrior forum but have been reading ALOT! I have had very, very moderate success online (so little in fact it warrants 2 very's! ).

Just wondered what a day in the life of a successful internet marketer was like? Not expecting anyone to give too much away but just general things like how much time you actually spend IM'ing, and what tasks, and in what order you address things first?

Also if anyone knows of any successful IM'er out there looking for an assitant, who is not a complete novice, then let me know - I'm keen to learn the skills!!

Hopefully luckygirl67

A look into the life of a "guru"

    LOL

But on a serious note, its nice. I usually wouldnt even be awake right now, but for 3 nights in a row we keep hearing some "tapping" sound around 5 AM. The dog doesnt seem to care about it but I do. So now I'm up.. sigh

Anyway, I do pretty much whatever I want to do that day. If I want to go to the beach I can. If I want to go troll facebook, I can. Just whatever I feel like doing. Each day is different.. I bought the mother-in-law a new laptop as an early birthday present like a week ago or something, it was really nice. Story is on my blog. lol

Thanks for replying WTG - will definitely take a look at your blog.

Nice to hear that IM'ing has made your lifestyle so free. Though sorry to hear you are up so early - tapping, how annoying.

      Dog's will sleep through anything!

Trust me, it wasnt always this easy.

IM takes hard work and dedication when you are starting out. There will be days/weeks/possibly months when you dont even make a penny. But its all about how you adapt to the situation and what you do to make it better.

Dont get discouraged when you fail, because trust me we all fail at some point. Just learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward.

Don't over-think stuff, dont buy all these crappy WSO's that claim to make you rich overnight with 7 clicks, and just dont be afraid to TRY

      Hi Whos That Guru,

Thanks for pointing us to your blog.

Just out of interest, you were complaining about how when you joined here with your username, someone went to Twitter and registered it so you couldn't.

Have you Trademarked that name? I would if I were you because it's a set of words, anyone can register anything with it.

I'm just wondering as well that you went and told all that persons followers he/she was a loser and they were just trying to sell stuff off your rep.

As I've been in this for many years and I've never heard of "whos this guru" before you joined, who are you really and where have you been chap, I'm normally pretty up to speed on well known marketers?

I'm Richard Van, nice to meet you.

Thanks for your inspirational words WTG - really appreciated.

Yeah I feel I am trying hard, but feel (and don't know if I am right) that I am missing something that connects it all together somehow  - perhaps I just don't have the marketing gene, and its that I need to learn, or as you say, its learning to adapt to the situation.

Totally up for continuing to put a lot of effort into this, that's why I mentioned in my first post, I would willingly 'intern' for any successful IM'er looking for a bit of help.

Thanks again for your words of encouragment - really, really kind of you, even for you to have taken the time to reply.

Any luck with finding the source of the tapping yet?

        Hi Lucky Girl,

I'm just going to send you a PM, it might help.

8 years ago now I was in a pretty bad situation. When I got someway to being back on my feet I started in IM. I couldn't even use Word at the time. For two years I barely made any money at all. In year three I did a lot better. Now I'm very happy.

The main thing to remember is that this is a business, it takes time and it's not a get rich quick thing (despite what some sales letters like you to think). One of the best things I ever did was to stay well away from the make money online niche. I've never sold anything like that and stick to nice obscure niches people rarely go for. I'm not saying I won't in time but the biggest mistake I see here are people selling MMO products having not made a lot of money online.

Good luck though, if I can do this anyone can, you just need to keep going forward, taking action and trying your best.

Yeah I used to go by a few different "names" online, but I came up with "Whos That Guru?" one night and decided I loved it. I just thought the name was hilarious and it fits me perfectly.

As for the blog "plug", lol why not? I figured I might as well.. after all, she DID ask about a typical day for a successful internet marketer, which my blog is about, and I happen to be a successful IM'er.

For the next question, I registered my name on here and apparently someone registered it on Twitter.. Yeah, I called them a loser to all of their followers because they are trying to impersonate me.

lol however I can only assume they are trying to sell stuff as me for my reputation on this forum, since like you said, nobody has heard of "Whos That Guru" outside of here and a few other forums I'm on. So if nobody has ever heard of the name then its obvious he's trying to impersonate me. For what reasons, I don't know.

Also, I'm by no means a "guru" - I am just fortunate enough to do what I want to do each day. I'm not rich. But I am definitely successful enough to be happy.

And no it's not trademarked yet.

I plan on trademarking it though, already thought of that when I registered my domain. lol actually, I'm doing it right now. thanks for reminding me. haha

edit: hmm.. apparently there is more to this trademark stuff than I thought there would be.. this will have to wait awhile.

OH! and no, I grabbed the tazer and went to investigate, there was nothing there.. I dunno what it is, but 3 nights in a row this has happened.. And at the exact same time every morning.. I dont know what it could be.

Yeah I read about that elsewhere, pretty weird, dogs are normally pretty sensitive to that stuff too.

Get a camera and recorder set up and stick it in the OT section. Either way, it wasn't me.

    LOL!!

I dont believe in ghosts or anything like that, but I DO believe in burglars.

My puppy would let me know if it was anything to worry about, but just to be sure I had to check. The wife wouldnt go back to sleep until I checked it out.

There are no typical days for internet marketers. Marketers work at their own time and at their own place. So, they are not aware of day and time to work.

I put in a solid eight hours a day for six days a week writing content for my blogs. I still feel that I'm not doing enough. I'm up writing at daylight and I cut myself off at five o'clock at night. I've been through a burnout period and it cost me money. I am not willing to burnout again.

This business has allowed me to do what I love best, which is spend more time with my family as well as travel. It's true what ncmedia says, it takes a lot of hard work and the bigger the biz gets the harder you should work. But it does allow you to play hard as well. A typical day for me consist of...

-waking up at noon (unless we have an early roadtrip or flight to somewhere awesome)
-spending time with my family, watching movies, going to the beach, theme parks, etc. till dinner time
-then from dusk til dawn I'm working hard. I usually get all the simple tasks out of the way, emails, correspondents, phone calls, etc.
-then on to forums, working on current products, and most importantly driving traffic, traffic, traffic...no business can thrive without marketing and traffic!

Whatever future endeavor you decide to take on, always remember stay focused, stay motivated, take risks, and NEVER give up...

My husband works nights so I normally wake up around 5-9pm depending on when we went to sleep, but this is my schedule.

    1. Wake up.
    2. Cook and eat breakfast.
    3. Check email, respond to important emails.
    4. Morning walk.
    5. Shower.
    6. Email and skype with my workers to see what they got done and what they are still planning on doing. I check in with the ones online every 3-4 hours while I'm working.
    7. Then I just go down my to-do list. I do everything in groups, planned out ahead. 2-3 days a week I write articles for half the day and then posting/submitting them. Other days are spent on making videos, podcasts, or setting up websites.
    8. The second half of the day is where I work on house work and take care of anything on my to-do list that needs to be done that day. This is usually things like my Fiverr, financial stuff, anything on my to-do list that isn't part of my everyday schedule. Usually lunch is in there.
    9. Cook dinner.
    10. Sit down and double check the next days to-do list.
    11. Relax with the family, read books.

The key is to plan before bed what you will be doing the next day so you don't wake up wondering what needs to get done.

I usually wake up around 7 or 7:30. I'm a meditator so I mediate first thing in the morning and then later in the afternoon. 20 min each session.

I then check my emails because my workers do work while I sleep and I check in to see what has been done.

I check rankings of my sites, Google analytics and Google webmaster tools. I'll also do some keyword research to check keywords and find new ones. I also tweak my sites and request stuff of my web designer.

Then I shower and eat breakfast with my wife.

Around 9:30 or 10 I start working on my sites. Writing articles building links etc. I usually write 1 or two new auto responders for my sites.

I usually stop work around 4 and take a walk or nap. Then I get my second wind around 6 and I'll work again until 8pm.

I like to read a book a month so I will read for 30 minutes and then watch a little TV or listen to a podcast.

Then its bed time for me.

Thanks for your input PhiladelphiaSEO. Sounds like you plan your day really well and are very efficient. Lots to learn here.

Interesting about the meditation - do you find it gives you an energy boost?

    This is easy:

    1.) Get up at noon.

    2.) Go get a coffee.

    3.) Eat some breakfast/lunch.

4.) Go down to the beach if it's sunny. Suntan for about 3 hours. Maybe ride my jet skis or yacht if I feel like doing some fishing.

5.) Go to the gym, workout, hit on chicks, pick up a couple for later that evening.

6.) Go home put a load in the laundry, eat some dinner, have my nap until around 6pm.

7.) Get ready for the club. Go to the club at about 11 or 12am.

8.) Drink my face off, make out with random chicks, take 2 or 3 home with me.

    Repeat the next day.

Except Sundays as the club isn't open on Sunday nights.

    A typical day?

    No such thing fortunately.

    Here's my last 4 days.

    1. email the list about a new product we're releasing.
upload all the video content to amazon aws and
start making delivery pages for the content (product)

2 Make the sign-up page. Sales page and create the new list
and follow up emails for it.

    3. Use some of the product videos to make a promo video
for the sales page. Upload it to server.

4 Send out the various emails to list segments....and
watch the first flush on money coming in. Check with
my cust service staff that all is working well.

Apart from checking emails I will do very little
work for the next 14 days or so.

I guess that is kinda typical for me.

Don't know if that helps at all but.....
it took about 2 years to get things
running this well and they've been
    running this way for
about the last 4 or 5 years.

It CAN work folks...keep at it.
