IS My Site Being SPAMMED with TEXT ENHANCE

Over the past day or so I have been noticing something called TEXT ENHANCE showing on my Membership site and it seems it is advertising to my visitors and members without my permission.

Now I really have no idea what the deal is since i am in Thailand and its all in Thai with no translation but its showing an IPAD add when I click on a highlighted link.

Anyone know what the story is with this ??? Seems a bit underhanded to me

If it's just you that's seeing it, there could be malware on your computer - try scanning it with malwarebytes and superantispyware.

If others are seeing it too, then did you install a plug-in that might have been infected? Try disabling them (if you are using any).

If not, you could contact your web host and see if they can help.

I think it was me Adam I ran all anti virus programs and in the end i had to go to text enhance website and opt out of the program thing is I never opted in, and now I have a cookie on my computer opting me out.

They are gone now but I presume if I clear cookies it will come back. I did a G search and seems others are also having the same issue, and firefox is being questioned if they have agreed to this underhanded advertising technique.

Hey mate, I found out it was linked to the add-on 'premium play codec-c'! Once I disabled that it disappeared! I have now fully removed this cheeky codec and viola!

I just had this come up on my site today!

Furious! What a joke! I'll opt out for now, but surely there is a permanent removal process?

Hate such stuff. Are you using Chrome?

How do I REMOVE "Text Enhance" from chrome!! - Google Chrome Help

    is helpful for removing:
I found it under Chrome extensions, masquerading as

    Premiumplay Codec-C.

Remove that, and the problem goes away.
DO NOT USE the optout.textsrv.com/optout.php solution. That has been provided by the authors of the malware.

    Good luck!

I noticed the exact same thing on a couple of my sites two or three weeks ago. I did a little bit of research to try and figure out what it was, and as far as I could tell there are only three explanations:

#1. The browser company is being sleazy and underhandedly monetizing their product (seems unlikely since I've experienced the same thing on Safari, and it seems unlikely that both Safari and FireFox are corrupt like this)

#2. I inadvertently installed a PPI (pay per install) program without realizing it and now the text enhance is coded into my comp (possibly in the registry or something?).

#3. My Ad-Aware totally failed and it's malware. Honestly, this kind of seems like the most likely one to me.

However, I do know that the problem seems to be surprisingly widespread, and I can only imagine how many more people are ignorantly surfing the web and clicking on these links without knowing what they are.

Superduper annoying, as I'm almost positive that they are taking visitors away from my webpages. It seems completely unfair that they can just siphon traffic like that without anybody's permission at all. It's my website! Back off!

If I ever meet the creator of TextEnhance I'll knock him in the mouth. If it's a girl...Well I'll call her something mean. Maybe I would buy her a bouquet of dead roses...That's mean right?

Eh, I'll be interested to see what conclusion you come to.

Guys just go and uninstall like you would any other program, but look for 'premium play codec-c', once I uninstalled that it disappeared. It's not enough just to remove the add-ons in browser, it will just keep coming back! ;-)
