FINALLY - I've Pulled my Finger out

For a good few months, I was just pottering around with my sites. Yes, they make money, but nothing like the gurus of the IM world. But a few weeks a go, I decided I really need to pull my finger out and change my ways.

Originally, I was writing, 1/2/3 articles a day and maybe spending an hour on SEO. I thought IM is for me because I can sit on my arse doing F*CK ALL and then earn millions. It doesn't work like this!

So what have I done to change my ways:

1. I have set up a new website. I will still be working on my old ones, but this is a new venture where my attitude is GOING to change.

2. I have written up a plan that I MUST follow for this site (outlined below). Boring I know. But it works for me. Well has done so far.

I won't be mentionning the domain of the site or the name of it here but will mention the broad niche (weight loss, I know dangerous).

So the plan:

1. Build the site and get it ranking for number 1 for a certain low competition keyword I have managed to find. It gets over 30,000 searches a month and in a few weeks, I have managed to get it to the top of page 2.

2. Build a list, ultimately of 25,000 members. A tall ask, I know, but doable. My ultimate goal is ten times this in the weight loss which is already bound to be profitable.

3. I will be giving away a free weight loss guide with this. Basically, a 7 day eating plan with recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 7 days.

4. After 7 days, I will have an automatic email sent to them offering my advanced 1 month eating plan for $37. Contains recipes for every day of the month blah blah blah.

5. Aim to get a 1% conversion rate on my list, which I believe is doable, especially because the free product will be extremely high quality (even if I do say it myself). So 1% of the initial 25,000 is 250 = Roughly $9000. Obviously, this is all based on whatifs and maybes. But I will also be looking at getting a far larger list.

So basically, wish me luck. And it's just to say NEVER GIVE UP and DON'T THINK IM IS EASY. YOU need to get that finger out of you know where and get working.

Please don't slate my idea. Let me fail so I can learn what goes wrong instead of poking huge holes in it.

Thanks and enjoy

I may have opened this thread expecting something else, but none the less, I think you may inspire others to pull more than just their finger out!

There's definitely a common misconception that this sh*t is easy, and honestly, I made that mistake too. Just now getting things to line up, and start showing some promise.

    Keep up the good work!

I share your burden in the "broad" health niche!

    All the Best,

    Best of luck manic!

A fresh start is a great opportunity to implement all the knowledge that you've gained since the start of your last project.

It sounds like you have a plan, but as you know, the hard part is sticking to it.

Yeah. And I'm sure I will encounter a few bumps along the way. But hopefully my success (if any) will spur on any of the newbies to IM. Remember, we were all newbies ones.

Great plan you have there, I can tell you're going to do well! I haven;t even thought about building a list - but it's what everyone is talking about, guess I should get onboard!

Good to know you're on your track, but I have to be honest here: "sometimes" you really don't have to work your ass off to make serious money. Seriously. But I won't advice you to skip a plan, in the end a good planning is what makes all the difference. Plus: your plan is really solid, you just need focus and drive. Good luck mate.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Good luck. Starting anew does wonders for motivation and hunger. (And that's with anything! Not just IM.)

Though I do suggest pulling the rest of your hand out; 4 additional fingers will go a long way.

Best of luck. I was intrigued to see that your low competition keyword receives 30,000 searches. You see, I was told to go for around 1,500 searches for it to be considered less competitive. This probably explains why I've had little visits and no sales.

Hey Manic...its really a good post. Very inspiring.
I'm currently doing pretty much same with my IM long term plan. I'm in the middle of making an effective and doable plan, which i can follow to get significant results.

The one area where I am little confused is searching low competition highly searched keyword phrases. Can you please share your keyword research plan ebaborately.

Like the tool you used for keyword reseach and what criteria you look while filtering the keywords for your IM websites...Thanks a ton in advance.

The fact that you're willing to change your ways and work harder puts you head and shoulders above most people. If you keep that attitude and refuse to quit until you succeed (which will probably take some time), your success is almost certain.

Yeah. I know it'll be a while before I make money worth talking about but that's the fun of IM.

I've go so much drive and am going to go for this.

Update: Managed to get my keyword to number 7 so slowly getting there. Number 7 in a few weeks... Not too bad.

@jodie: Searches shouldn't have anything to do with competition. Competition is basically looking at who ranks number 1. How many backlinks they have. What sort of site they are and so on. I have another keyword for a different niche. It gets over 100k searches a month and that's fairly low comp.

Sounds like you've got your act together and a good plan to follow. Just focus on your plan and nothing else until you start to see the results you are looking for. There will be ups and downs along the way, but you will see what works and what doesn't. Good luck.
