Make more money, be organised!

I don't know about you guys and gals, but as a newbie to this game, I cannot emphasise how important it is to not only take action, but to also be organised.

As with any business or project, no matter how big or small, organising your day to day activities and keeping track of your articles, e.g. where they have been submitted and what websites you are using them on will keep you in the know how about where each of your campaigns are at, and help you achieve more success in the long run.

I started out not being organised, and jumping straight into it, losing articles, not knowing where I have articles, which articles have I changed etc etc.. it got messy, not forgetting all the log ins I mounted up, social bookmarking sites are just one lot!

How do the guys on this forum keep themselves organised? Is there something on the internet available that will help us IMers in this area?

    Hey guys,

Here's something I just posted in related thread...

    ===================================

It may take a little getting used to, but mind mapping will transform your thinking and organization of information.

Do a Google search if you don't know what mind mapping is.

Then, when you're ready to jump in, do another search for mind mapping software, or go with my recommendation of Mind Manager from Mindjet: Brainstorming, Free Form Thinking, and Visual Aid Mind Mapping Software Program (if you have the $$$ to spend).

I use mind maps for everything from passwords, to-do lists, project planning, goals, creating presentations, accumulating knowledge and ideas from the stuff I read/watch - everything.

Once you can get past the learning stage - your brain will never be the same.

    DO this!!!

    Derek

I've got to agree with Derek - mind mapping is a great way to stay organised. They also help further down the line when you start creating your own products and courses. If you've got mind maps that you've created with your own products, they're a great extra to add value to your products.

I make sure there is as little distraction as possible around my work environment so I keep most of my stuffs in the shelves unless they are absolutely necessary.

I started doing this by only having the bare minimum on my desk, 1 pen, 1 pencil, 2 sheets of blank papers and a computer. As I start to retrieve more stuffs from the shelves I also adjusted accordingly by keeping the unused items again.

I found this habit of constantly tidying up and leaving only the necessary within reach helped me build focus and clarity with work. I started implementing this on my computer desktops, emails, and even the information that comes my way and as a result I'm now far less distracted and certainly more organized.

This blog reminds me of a silly mistake I made a few years back, when I had just started out with online writing. I would write for hours at a stretch and had 4-5 clients with with whome I was involved in projects, simultaneously.
It took me more time to arrange and find my clients' projects than I had actually taken to complete those projects. Since that incident, I have started making a separate folder for each of my clients and I have also started saving these at two places- on my hard disk and on an external drive, just incase my HDD crashed.
I save hours each week, just because at the end of every week, I don't have to dig my PC for the files that need to be attached!

  • I'm not sure about the intricacies of organising an affiliate campaign but if you're looking for more general organisation /todo tools I'd recommend one of the many free GTD (getting things done) tools. I use one called Vitalist which is great.
