Legitimate info site & affiliates

I'm putting together my first site and I am having a slight battle raging in my head.

I am building a site that in a field that I currently have experience in and I know there is or was a pretty big market for it. I want this to be seen as a professional information site ie. quality products/info.

I'm thinking of using 2-3 forms of monetizing it (here is the conflict):

1. Adsense. Probably add that to any site for a little extra.

2. Amazon. Many books available on my topic (sign of "professionalism")

3. Clickbank. I could probably make more off of these ebooks. But the problem is (at least in my mind) that when you click on these links the "landing page" just turns my stomach. They all seem the same to me...endless pitches, all fluff, nothing of value (unless you buy the book...then maybe)

I'm not intentionally knocking the ebook writers or authors, but there have been so many people "sold" on these things that I don't know if I want to tarnish my site by linking to them.

Should I be concerned about this or am I just one of the few that see overly hyped sales pitches and get turned off?

  • No you're not the only one who is turned off by overly-hyped sales pitches, I hate them! There are other places to get affiliate products to promote that don't resolve to a landing page meaning that you can build your own hype-free and then just link to the shopping cart.

Do you have to just hunt through all the available listings for such pages, or is there a directory listing of "no-hype" style listings?

I'm not against them using landing pages either, as they can sell their product better than I can...simply because its theirs.

    Am I over thinking this?

Trying to think how to build repeat customers / visitors without forums.
