What to do with an old Directory ?

I have a couple of old PR3 Directories that I no longer want to maintain. Im tired of the spammy submissions and the amount of time it takes to clean up submissions .

I would like to keep the domains. I was thinking of possibly turning them into blogs or Website Review pages .
Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do ? Will deleting dozens of directory pages hurt my SEO ?

-The first and second level categories are PR2.
-I never accepted Paid links
- The directories are "General" .
- I used the PHPLD script
#directories #directory #phpld

If you drop low quality content from your directory, then it will be best for your site SEO. In fact after panda everyone suggesting to do this.

A simple tricks you apply when you will drop any article. Just focus on date, those article don't get pr after 2/3 months from it submission. Drop them , they won't get any pr.

Here is what I would do...
    1. Since you never accepted paid links, you should be able to drop most of the links.
    2. Delete most of the low level categories, especially empty categories with no pagerank.
    3. Switch to only accepting paid reviews. I use the word "reviews" because they are paying you to review, not necessarily to accept (and you could refund them).
    4. Add an article feature by upgrading to phpLD 4.1, and bring in some original content to the categories in addition to the links. The latest phpLD uses the TinyMCE editor just like wordpress, so you can continue to have the links and also start blogging as you suggested.

Oh wow Dvduval ! Im so happy to get a response from you. That sounds like a great plan- I'm really excited!
I was worried about offering paid links.. Paid reviews is a good solution.
      BTW:
I installed my first PHPLD directory back in abt 2004 and with no SEO its still PR3.
You provided good service back then and I see you havent changed.

Thanks, NikkiBlue. Has it been that long? Wow!

Google employees have repeatedly states that charging for the review process is AOK so long as you are actually reviewing the links, meaning that you are rejecting some, and have standards.
