Best Venue for selling a website

Earlier today, in this forum, someone asked how to value a website. These answer depends on many factors. One that wasn't mentioned in the responses so far deserves some attention, I suspect: "where and how will I be able to get the highest price for my site?"

Auctions are a frequently used approach. Flippa is well-known, and most forum readers may gravitate to it, but there are other auction marketplaces, as well. GoDaddy, Sedo, eBay and dozens more sites offer easy advertising of sites for sale.

I wonder if anyone has studied the options and determined which site has the most eager buyers, most willing to part with cash when they see a good site for sale. I'm pretty sure it isn't eBay. I have bought several sites there for under $10--nobody was bidding against me.

There are, I understand, people and companies that put together sales of sites on a private negotiation basis, where the buyer is looking at the potential of the site more than the cost of acquiring it. I have read that this is where you will get the best price. Does anyone have suggestions of companies that have a track record in this area?

Actually, we have our own service. Flippa is currently the king, and I do not know who is the queen. That said, I do not use flippa now. It is clogged with junk sites and spam.

Sedo is OK, but it's not a fast way to sell a site and domains are more often sold there rather than websites. Godaddy and eBay are fine if you want to practically give your site away.

Never heard of any service like this. Flippa is the #1 place for buying and selling websites at this time. I would like to see some viable competition, but it's not there yet.
