Idea for The New Kids Including Me

As mentioned in other threads, information overload can be paralyzing. I'm a new kid myself and love how everyone here is so helpful and inspirational. I spend all day in front of this screen (NOT the forum!) and yet I seem to be always starting over. I know a little html (learned from blogging) and am delving into CSS because I want to put up an alternative health site of 6 pages or more.. I have a background in this field so building the content is easy, if I can only become a techie.

So, here's my idea for a slow start that will * NOT * make you rich in the next week. C'mon it will be FUN!

1. Put up a blog. If you don't already have wordpress/hosting then use blogger cuz it's free and you can monetize it. Also, you can play around customizing it and you'll teach yourself some html.

2. Choose a subject that interests you and preferably one that you already know something about. Be an expert. If your goal is to dominate the market then you'd better know what you're talking about.

3. Collect your keywords and name the blog accordingly. Think outside the box on this one. Words usually have double meanings and you can play and spin. Example: I recently put up a blog called imdomination.blogspot.com. intended as a diary of my progress in this business. DO NOT go look at it! It's boring with a capital B. Initally I wanted to play off of "domination" and do the whole dominatrix whip thing but I got sidetracked and that's why it's boring because I'm bored with it. I'll be redesigning it soon.

4. Get your content together. You can learn to write. It's not rocket science. You most likely speak informally so go with that. A little slang here and there, ya know? Like, I'm blonde, so like, if I have an appealing blonde product, I gotta speak the language, like. No offense to other blondes here! I love the jokes.

Initially my focus was all about making money and selling ebooks about making money like so many people here but hey, I'm new at this. I don't know squat and I'm no good at faking it. I don't want to buy a bunch of marketing stuff to see if it's any good before I start promoting it so my blog will have links to free content that I think is valuable to my site. It will be fun and I can probably find all kinds of filler. World domination, Austin Powers clips, dominating girlfriends, ballbusters, etc. You get the drift. If you're not having fun and your mind isn't reeling over your one little keyword concept then your blog will end up boring like mine and you won't even get to the part of monetizing it.

5. Go look for affiliates. Everybody always uses "dog training" as an example. Think comedy. Do stupid searches like "my wife is a dog". Hook up with dogpile. Who pays the best money? Does Petsmart have a program? Are those dog insurance sites still around? Maybe a vet is promoting a hot new product. Then you could spin off "veteran" from your site. I'm going to try adsense even though I personally never click on them, maybe other people do. Just look at all the silly names...google, squidoo, twitter that weren't in the wikipedia (that's another one) not that long ago and now we associate them with something. You are just as clever.

6. Ok, you got content, you got your money ads/links in place, now it's time to broadcast. Hello world, it's submission (another play on words for my domination blog) time. Maybe you've paid for automatic submission but most likely you want to keep costs down so you do it manually. Later, when we're all rich we can pay for more tools but for now let's use the free ones. Ping it, Digg it, Socialize it, post on other blogs to get backlinks. Write snappy, funny articles about what's on your blog. Maybe you love your dog more than your wife. Pretend you're a stand up comedian (except ya gotta keep it clean) Find some funny story you can tell that relates to your product. People like funny. They remember funny. They email funny to their friends. Remember my plan to include world domination in my blog? Maybe Austin Powers is more stupid than funny but I'm hoping "the spin" will get remembered. This is what our politicians and media giants do all the time...spin, spin, spin. So, I'm gonna become the Spinmaster. The SpinGoddess. The SpinMeister. You can too.

7. Track results. Split test by putting up a similar blog with different money ads, maybe a spin in a slightly different direction. Take the highest performing model and repeat with another interest, idea, spinoff.

Note to admin: This is not a look over my shoulder, play along with me post. While I'm doin' the domination thing, I am NOT trying to dominate your forum, just thinkin' out loud on an idea for new kids that is worth about 2 cents. If there's a group of people that want to follow along with this idea, is there someplace we can go to do this? Yeah, I read the rules but they got jumbled up with all the other information overload.

One more thing. Maybe you have 2 interests that you can combine into one blog which most likely will give you a dot com domain name that hasn't been thought of. Maybe you like fishing and you can't get a date to save your life. Now you have fishdate.com!!! Or datefish.com. Who wants to date a fish? No one, unless you're a trout but if you have a fun, legit dating site and it's kinda fishy, you can see the potential for how much fun (and income potential) you can have. Or you're an expert on fishing where you improve on the ugly fish that can't find a mate.

Like, I said. It's not rocket science. So, I'd better quit writing this, make some more coffee and get busy dominating. BTW, go look at Pearson's post about following along while he makes a dollar by mostly sleeping, drinking coffee and reading this forum. It's funny, and that's why it has so many posts. Ironically, you can take this same concept and apply it literally.

When I worked in retail sales, our best days on the floor were the ones where the salespeople were telling jokes and cutting up. The customers would pick up on the fun we were having and lighten their mood and consequently they would BUY.

Ok, I'm done now. Really.
