Is this a Unique and New approach to list building ?!

Hey warriors

Last night I started something.. Something I believe is a unique and new approach to building a list !!

Well at least I havent seen it like this before. Yes you are asked to subscribe to blogs but is there anyone that has gone about it like this....

So... here goes !

I have advertised for people to become a Friend of DeanHolland.com ( i.e - Join my list )

**But** As a friend you get lots of free value and benefits, such as;

- An email from me everytime I post on my blog

- Friends get entered into the planned competitions I am running this year
on my blog, first one is in 2-3 weeks with $100's of prizes to win

- Friends will get V.I.P JV deals with me, meaning they recieve higher
commissions than normal JV's on any products I release

- Friends will get the chance to win my future products and review them
to be featured on the sales pages with testimonials

And much more value from me for simply becoming a friend on my blog free !!

So how about that warriors ?? I think I have put a unique twist on the ordinary 'Subscribe to my blog for updates'

Let me know what you think... I put a short video out on youtube last night about this idea and have had a few subs to be my friend already

Have I copied someone without knowing or have I really hit on a new and unique idea to list building ???

I look forward to your thoughts

Dean

I don't know if any one else is using this method but its good you're trying to over deliver. Nothing wrong with offering more value!

    Best of luck Dean

The more value you provide to your visitors, the more subscribers you're likely to recieve. It's a give-and-take kind of business. So over-deliver, keep your visitors happy, and they'll keep you happy.

Sounds like a good idea - I've never heard of it before!

I think this is a great way to go about your business... I'll probably end up using your plan for myself!

    Maybe.....

If you don't deliver with good and interesting quality many people will quickly lose interest.

And what's the point of a list anyway, if I have to bribe people to get on my list, how motivated are they to purchase from me.

I prefer to bribe with good information, and let them know to know more you have to join my list. I make lots of oblique mentions of my list in every post which interests people to join if they want to get more detailed information.

    Hi guys

Thanks for the input... to address the comment above, I dont see it that Im bribing people

More so that I am offering BIG value for them all !!

Im looking long term at this, not to build a list to make a quick buck... If you have looked at what I am offering for free to be a friend of my blog you will see a big emphasis on getting higher JV commissions for my future products as a friend of deanholland.com !

Im sure you see the power that will provide over the coming months when I release a product and have potentially 100's of affiliates ready to promote

So you see its win-win ... All my friends get MASSIVE value from me and in return they give me massive value back

Everyone gets something, and anyway all my blogs friends will ultimately win as they will get more over time.. Thats what I want, establish myself as a giver of value

Hell... only time will tell right ?!

    Thanks

I am just putting an opt-in on my sites now. Something I should have done a long time ago. Just thinking what I can offer as a give-away to new sign ups. I do agree though, the more value that you add, the more likely someone will subscribe.

I've run contests on my blog before and it definitely boosts the subscriber rate. Sometimes I just ask people to subscribe to the feed, other times I have simply asked for an email address.

I currently have a FREE ebook that I giveaway on my site. It's loaded with affiliate links and it requires an email to download. That has beeen working exceptionally well for me.

Try it...try anything! You never know what will work.

    Who are you targeting?

    People who want free stuff?
People who are interested in your topic?
People who have the money/authority to spend?

While I applaud your enthusiasm, it's important that
you are clear about your target audience.

All the free stuff in the world isn't going to interest
me if your content isn't what I want to read.

List building isn't about numbers, it's about precise
    targeting.

      Hi John

Yes you are totally correct, however I believe my target audience is people that want to make money online. These people already may have a blog or are looking into starting one.

Essentially its going to be down to bringing people back to my blog. Whyen I release the redesign of my blog in a few weeks there will be ad spots. Obviously the better my traffic the more I can charge for these spots. Im seeing others having great results with advertising, make 100's if not 1000's per month from it.

As my main focus this year is to quit my job and do this full time I need to make the most from every income stream.

My blog is to be the foundation of my online business so bringing traffic to it is #1 priority .. By providing excellent value I think it will pay off, like I say its going to be a test and only time will tell

I think around 30 people have joined in the first 24 hours

      Thanks for the input

I think it's a numbers and targeting game, but I know that John meant that too.

Even though you are targeting a specific niche, it's a numbers game, because it's not just finding the "niche people", but it's finding enough that will resonate (gel) with the way you deliver content/training/learning/information to them. That's when profitable relationships build.

Think about a situation in your life, you met someone that had a same interest as you, but, still you didn't gel. (Like something just rubbed you wrong with their personality....) So, you're in the same "niche", but ya gotta gel too.
