Do sites with multiple niches work for google?

Do big sites, promoting multiple products in different niches, work with google? What if you built a large cpa site, with lots of different cpa offers, in many different niches, with each cpa offer on its own post or page. Does that fly with google, and would the individual pages rank for their keyword, if you did the proper seo, and backlinking. It's just a thought.

There is nothing wrong with the strategy you propose, and more pages are going to be indexed and ranked as you establish yourself as an authority in the niche (and sub niches).

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

As long as you are creating content for USERS instead of the search engines Google will eventually warm up to you.

This is why many of the content farm sites were hit so hard recently. They had bull**** content geared towards getting first page rankings... instead of providing USERS with quality content.

Sites that have "many niches" is a moot point. I can create a site that discusses many niches in mere hours with PLR content and fill it to the brim with affiliate links. Google will probably look at this site and go "yeah right, guy, its 2011, not 2006 anymore!"

However, if someone spent a considerable amount of time providing quality content for USERS well that's different story.

Google has been preaching it for years. Write for people, not the algo.

In terms of a CPA site, I feel that someone who offered a genuine review site (does this really work or not type articles) could do quite well in a post panda world--especially if they could turn out a strong community of USERS behind it.

Of course that's just my two cents.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Heh, I registered an account to ask exactly this question and found someone else just did

To be clear then, I have several "large" sites, I've put a lot of effort into them and they cover broad categories not specific niches (Fashion and Beauty, Home Theatre etc.). All original, genuine content and reviews, the sort of content that *I* would like to read, not bot churned bilge.

I know this goes against the grain of most of the affiliate marketing and niche content "schemes", but I'm working on these sites as a longer term project, building something I can be proud of in years to come.

Sure, I have some niche sites too, but I always feel a bit grimy when I promote them, like I'm only a few steps away from pyramid schemes and MLM. They *do* however help pay the bills...

One question I have is how to best get links to them?

My understanding is that too many backlinks to a page and Google will slap me (This may have already happened to one site, as it seems to have vanished from Google).

Should I "link wheel" each page and article separately, or market the whole site? Perhaps a combination of both (I've hear 8 / 1 used as a ratio).

Would love your expert feedback, and apologies if I've hijacked the thread a little though I suspect the responses will benefit the OP too.

Big sites on multiple niches are not a problem, look at toptenreviews.com .

My only concern and why I do not rely on just one website is what happens if the Google Gods do decide to not rank you anymore. Your one and only website where you get all your revenue from gone...

I'd rather have multiple "vending machines" all over the place earning me each a little bit. Over the years I have seen often that where one drops in the serps, the other pick up again and I hence keep the income constant. This does have it's downside off course as you need to link / market many more domains, always starting from scratch.

But yes, I believe big sites on multiple niches work. Search engine wise it is just a bit risky for me to have just one website in case Google does not love me anymore (ask ezine articles). Now if you have 3 - 5 nice big authority sites.....

    @Origin

You're spot on with your concerns, and I share them too. Even as I type one of my more recent sites seems to have vanished from Google (where I had several page one rankings a week ago); Google dance or dumped, I don't know, but the site has been built to the best of my ability the "right" way.

My plan is to nurture my "golden six" broad sites over years with a long term plan, but pay the bills in the shorter term with outsourcing services and "grubby" niche mini sites.

Still not sure what the best way to juice them is though, maybe I should start my own thread on the subject.

That will work if you create really good contents and get back links from good sources. I have huge websites as well.

Just make sure you organize your contents properly like separating the niches by chapters. Make your website easier to navigate for people and you will be rewarded.

I still prefers, separating websites for each niche though. I just don't like putting all my eggs in one basket.

It is important to remember that a niche is not a keyword or a group of products.

A niche is a group of people with similar interrest. These are either interested in a certain subject (internet marketing, health) or a group of people in a certain stage in life (males in their 25-30's, stay at home moms, teen girls wanting to be paris hilton etc.)

Your articles does not have to be about one product to be in the same niche, but it would be adviceable to publish content that in general will be interresting to your target group of readers. (Advertisers love this)

You can have as many niches as you like, although from Google point of view it would help if they were related, sub niches.

I would go for individual site for promoting a particular CPA company's offer and I think your strategy should work too.
