CAMTASIA: How to record sound direct from PC?

Hi Guys

Normally I use camtasia to record my voice over a screen capture, but this time, I want to record sound and music coming directly from the PC. There is an option saying "Line in SigmaTel Audio", but when I choose it, there is still no sound on the recording. The other two options refer to the microphones. At the moment, I have had to resort to sticking a mic near the speakers, but the sound quality is poor.

Can this be done? Any ideas?

Cheers
Phil

Phil, I'm not sure if this would work or not but you might try running a cord from your speaker/headphone output to your mic input.

John's solution is much better, but this works. You can pick up a line with a stereo plug at each end for about $5 from Radio Shack, or that type of store.

    Phil,

If you have the audio track you can import it
into the audio channel in your Camtasia project.
Then you should retain the original quality level.

I was going to try to explain by writing, how to do this, then I thought a video would be easier. The toolbar became invisible during the video , but I'm sure you're familiar with it, and the area I refer to is where you have the microphone icon

    Hope this helps
