Applying To Independent Affiliate Programs

I have just joined WF and am looking forward to learning more about internet marketing from all of you. I have skills setting up PPC ad campaigns in Adwords and Microsoft AdCenter and am looking to start making some money through affiliate marketing. I plan to drive traffic to the affiliate offers using PPC, first by direct linking during the testing phase and then by creating landing pages for campaigns that are profitable.

I have done some keyword research and found several independent affiliate programs in a few different niche markets that I am looking to apply to and have noticed they all require me to submit a web url with my application. I do not currently have a website and am considering building a wordpress site with unique content on ppc marketing based on my experience. The niche markets I have chosen to promote products in are not internet marketing related because that does not seem like a good place to start. Would having a site on PPC marketing be sufficient to submit to these affiliate programs and give me a good chance of being accepted? I plan to sell myself on my ppc skills to them when I apply and I thought that having a site on that topic would be a good way to demonstrate my knowledge.

I have also considered the idea of creating a site with a theme and content relevant to each program I apply to, but this would get expensive and be far more time consuming. I appreciate any advice you can offer.

I find having a quality site relevant to the affiliate programs to which you apply improves acceptance rate. That said, you can talk to the affiliate manager and explain your situation. Most affiliate managers are helpful, and if they aren't then I'd think twice about that affiliate program.

Try talking to them before you apply and see if they're receptive to your plan. Be sure to make it clear you have no intention of violating their PPC terms such as bidding on their trademarked names and other listed keywords if they have such terms.

    Good luck

If they tell you that they prefer you have a relevant quality site, then you'll have to build one or look for another affiliate program.
