The Art of Spending Money Wisely (so painful!)

Gosh I hate spending money.

I really do.

But I've come to the point that I realize some things are worth buying.

So far this week, I've spent $197 on Warrior Forum coaching (definitely worthwhile!), $25 on a double-bladed silver axe charm that I made into the *most* rockin' bracelet imaginable:

(long story there, but it's basically my good-luck charm to remind me to always honor my Inner Hero)

and I'm now about to pull the trigger and spend $97 on a Rapid Action Profits add-on so I can incorporate RAP with my WSOs.

Anyone else hate spending money? Even if you know it's the right thing to do?

I'm not too materialistic so my spending is quite minimal, though when it comes to shopping I don't hold back.

I can't do without a full fridge of quality food!

When someone comes out with a WSO that shows me proof positive I can take the cash with me.......I'll slow down. Otherwise....why hoard for a rainy day when you're to friggin' old to even rap with some young hottie at the Slaughtered Lamb Pub.

p.s. Gotta spend what is left....the IRS has been up my ass for so many years I can taste their nasty hair tonic.

Unfortunately you got me on that one, but as I'm pretty good with Google too -

Well I call her Mrs. ExRat, but she's not really the wife, she's the girlfriend. Unfortunately, she also knows too much and knows I'm not long on pork bellies, except for my own, long, pork belly

But she is simply irresistable, as are pork bellies.

That's rough mate. But I'm sure you've overcome a few challenges in your time, so it's just another one for the list, right?

I started trying the gourmet food gig. It's a major stress reliever aside from when TiVo screws up the Food Network recordings. I think I've thrown out like $300 worth of food this month after it didn't come out quite right (the local delivery kids love us lol).

Oh wow, my husband and my kids - we just hate spending money. We're all about saving it!

That being said, I will confess there *are* times I do some massive splurging for the kids. They adore anime, so I always make sure to send them to AnimeCon and ComicCon and such with some decent spending money.

My husband and I (we've been married 18 years now); we're so content with where we are and what we have that we now generally just save. If we want to buy something, we'll research online where to get the best deals.

Speaking of which, did you know that some big name companies always have 40-50% off a single item? Yesterday, one kid wanted a scrapbook, so I found the Michael's 40% off coupon and ended up saving $12 or so.

You can find those at Michaels Weekly Ad .

That double-bladed Axe thingee was the first time in months I've bought something retail just for *me* that wasn't business-related. Glad I did!

OK....I don't usually mess with the frugal....but here's some content rich gold.

1 Rent a hotel room for over 100 bucks...pinch the towels....after all you paid for them.

      2. Don't forget the Gideon Bible....it's tax deductable.

      3. Grab all the phone books you can.....rolled up they make great fire wood.

      4. Carry a vial of Canola oil in a small vial.....enter the most expensive restaurant in town with your old man on crutches.......make sure nobody is looking and pour the oil on the floor and the second hubbie hits the crutches he's gonna look like Gumpy before he goes splat.

Trust me.....you'll get a free room, meal, and free Pay Per View.

      5. Grab all the tablets and pens in the drawers.....so your kids will be mocked at school....but at least it's free.

hope that helped...chomp on those ideas for a while.......peace, Vince

Honestly, the more I make I spend less. I never really grasped bending for the wants, trust me my children wish I'd consider their "needs" a little more. I think it was "Fijit Friend" or something my 7 year old NEEDS to have fun in her room? I threw her a book and told her to talk to me when she can see her floor.

One thing I do splurge on is books and frontier "decor" (muskets, tomahawks, bowie knives, leather to make moccasins, etc). Once I sell my offline I'll probably try and figure out why I'm such a tight wad.

Barbling, that is a really neat bracelet, you said you made it on your own? I've always thought about getting into the crafts hobby, my daughters been dying to start doing it but we're not sure where the "rookie" crafts are aside form paper towel roll rain sticks.

    Hi Barbling,

Love the ax charm bracelet. On spending money, I don't usually mind spending it within reason. However, I recently watched several episodes of Extreme Couponing and have noticed that my grocery shopping excursions are a bit more depressing. Fifty or sixty dollars later I stroll out with a couple of bags in hand while those Extreme Couponers will roll out with 3 or 4 stuffed carts and spend less. Next time I guess I'll at least try to use a coupon or two - maybe that will help me feel better!

Also, guess I'm going to have to go listen to this Vegas Vince guy and his radio show. I mean, if he can keep me this entertained with just a few blog posts I can only imagine what his show is like!

    thanks, Bob K.
