There are people here who know a lot more than me about this. But here goes.
My simple answer would be. you should have left it well alone. Then set up your own site along side the old site.

The problem is that YOU know you have moved the site. The search engines do not.

The visitors your site pulls in is not only dependant upon the content but the URL itself. There might be keywords in your URL and / or you might have generated some valuable backlinks which have pushed up your page rank.

You really shouldn't depend upon on any site that's based upon a free URL. If you intend to get serious, register a URL from day one and build from there.

Hope it works out for you.

Been there/done that/ate the t-shirt. It's lousy when such things happen so unexpectedly.

On your current domain, create a page that says,

Moved from http://Your Blogger Thingee. blogger .com

      (ie, your last domain).

And then write a bit about what that last site contained.

That page should get indexed in search engines, and also help people find your new site when they search for you.

This is a technique I've taught for years to job seekers/recruiters - whenever you move to a new gig, always make sure to create a page that lists your last email address/site.

That way, when someone searches on you in Google, your new site should show up.

      Hope that helps.

Although I do not personally use AdSense We have a lot of people using Backlinktopia (just a piece of software we had made to automate some of our tasks) to bring their AdSense sites back from the dead. You can look into the software although it's not necessary what it does this simply submits your content to document sharing sites.

Document sharing sites are well known for getting high quality backlinks and traffic to your site and we have had great success with them.

So it is my recommendation to open up a docstoc and scribd account and start sharing some of your content and be sure to provide a link back to your site.
