Money now money later

I have been studying IM for about year and a half and purchased many programs. After spending that much time and money getting into IM, I got feedback from one coach that he had done survey of his students and found those who spent much time buying the next shiny object often quit making no money.. He said it is important to take action right from the start to make some money at the start. He talked about selling, flipping domains, doing surveys, using writing skills on elance, selling things on ebay etc. He told me to make something right now first then go on to the other methods that may take more time, tech skills, etc.
Since I had a job, it was easier to have spent time and money to "learn" IM. But difficult to justify to others who asked did you make any money on it?

  • All my IM business has been based around the 'slow build'.

I sacrificed making money early on in order to set up important income streams for later.

With the said, getting access to fast cash occasionally definitely helps justify why you're in IM, and makes it easier to keep going. Perhaps striking a balance between both long term and short term is the best strategy?
