Amazon Affiliates: Can I Do This?

I'm a new Amazon Affiliate. I've waded through their Operations Agreement and this forum for some answers, but still feel a little unclear on if I can do what I want to do:

I would like to link to the Amazon main page only (not specific products) and donate 50% of any spin-off commission to charity. My hope is to make commission on the holiday rush shopping of my website users who use Amazon anyway or who want to help a good cause with their shopping habits, but I would want to make it clear that 1) I am an Amazon Affiliate 2) 50% of commissions go to charity 3) 50% of commissions go to help build the website.

My concerns are that:
a) the Amazon operations agreement indicates I can't publicize that I am an affiliate or the mechanics of the program
b) I am not linking to specific products, which Amazon infers I should.

Have you Amazon experts out there seen this approach before? Does it work? Maybe I've misinterpreted something, but any perspective you can offer this noob is much appreciated.

By not linking to a particular product, how do you hope to attract a decent portion of organic traffic to Amazon through your link? This won't work. You've got to pick out your specific products, choose the relevant keywords and then work on attracting traffic using those selected keywords. This is the pattern that shall bring you traffic and possibly sales.
    Good luck.

I think you may have misread the operating agreement. As I read it, you must disclose that you are an Amazon Associate, to prevent any confusion about Amazon endorsing your site(s) and/or emails and/or advertising.

Once the commission is earned and paid, you can do anything (legal) you want with it - including giving all or part of it away.

One thing you will have to make sure of, though. You'll have to make it very clear that the charity does not endorse you or your site, and that the only connection is your desire to make a donation.

      Good luck on your venture...

Personally, I am not sure. So what I would do is contact Amazon directly and ask them about this. Make sure your email is VERY clear in what you are intending to do.

Amazon will not divide your check you will get one check for earnings and then its up to you to do what you will with it.

I don't believe that you can use charity and an encouragement to get people to make purchases but again as advised contact Amazon support who have always got back to me very quickly with answers.

    Kickin it on Amazon
