Hey Everyone,

So I've been reading threads on Warrior Forum for months and since there is sooooo much on here, I still am kinda lost. I am basically looking to get a plan of action in place, and then execute. I have no idea where to start however. So I thought I would post my skills, experience, and see if my fellow warriors could give me a push in the right direction.

If there is anything I have learned from reading these threads is you have to take action. That isn't a problem for me, but I am the type of person that needs to have a clear plan, and all the knowledge I can get before acting.

I recently tried to start a SMS business, and have had very little success, mostly due to very little starting capital. So I'm putting that on the back burner and looking for a new plan. I have a 10 month old at home, and really need the extra income. While I think I am more passionate about working in the offline marketing sector (selling mobile sites, reputation management, SMS) logistically I don't have the time to get out to businesses. So now I am back looking at Marketing online, where I can work on my business after Jr. goes to bed. (And when work is slow at the office)

In 2008 I began reading blogger unleashed and Vic taught me a lot. He was great at answering questions, and giving feedback. At the time I was out of work and dedicated 10+ hours a day to online marketing. When I did get back to work full time, and didn't see any profit from my efforts over the previous 3 months, I scrapped it. Two weeks later I noticed a $35 deposit from an ebay affiliate site I had. I really wish I would have been more patient and not cancelled my host gator account. So I have done a little affiliate marketing, but not for 3 years and don't remember much. I was using a program called BANS (Build a Niche Store). So I do have a little experience with that.

I can create a decent looking website with Wix, or other wysiwyg editors, but have no other programming knowledge. I see wordpress is highly recommended on a lot of threads here, but for someone who is fairly smart with these kinds of programs, it seems more difficult then people make it out to be unless you find a theme laid out exactly how you want it. Even still I need to learn a lot more about wordpress if that is critical to my plan. I did do a lot of research with PPC campaigns as well, but that seemed to be impossible to keep a client happy so I moved on from it. One of the things enjoy most with Internet Marketing is keyword research. I have a psychology degree, and search habits fascinates me.

I've looked at lots of WSO's but to be honest I'm leery. There are so many, and they all have great reviews (which can be purchased for $5) that I haven't been ready to part with the little money I have to roll the dice on a WSO. To be clear, I am sure there are a lot of great ones, but I'm also sure there are a lot that are not worth their price, and it seems very difficult to differentiate the two.

So with that, call me a case study, or just someone looking for advice, I would love your help with creating and executing a plan! I will answer any questions you have on the thread!

Thanks!

Well with having "Starting Capital" problems I would stay away from PPC advertising as it can get expensive quick.
You haven't mentioned building a list at all and I feel (and I'm sure others would agree) that you should learn as much as you can about building an email list and implement that right away on any site/blog/page you already have up and live.
Then I would grab 1 or 2 WSO's to do with what your "passionate about" which is "working in the offline marketing sector (selling mobile sites, reputation management, SMS)"
I mean come on now, get a sitter to watch Jr while you go to your Business Meeting, you need to treat this as a Real Business, because it is. A Part-time Business is still a Business. You must know someone you can trust to look after your child for an hour or two while you go potentially make some money.

I wish you well in your Business.

    To Your Success,

      RSN Marketing,

Thanks for the feedback. It's not so much that I can't find a sitter, but I work a full time job and only have 1 day off during the week. While I am passionate about offline marketing, I guess I am more passionate about spend time with my son at this stage of the game. That is why I've refocused my efforts online.

As for building a list...for this you mean starting a blog and get subscribers? Then try to get them to buy affiliate products in an email newsletter? Do you have any WSO's that you would recommend for this?

      Thanks again!
